  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Set to miss four-to-six weeks

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Palacios will miss 4-to-6 weeks due to a right knee sprain, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Palacios was placed on the injured list Friday after spraining his right knee in Wednesday's game against the Marlins. The timeline would put Palacios on track to return to action in late August or early September, with his absence opening up more opportunities for Jonny DeLuca, Kameron Misner and Dylan Carlson in the outfield. Prior to his injury, Palacios was slashing .233/.350/.332 with 19 stolen bases, five home runs and 21 RBI across 300 plate appearances this season.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Not in Friday's lineup

Drury isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday versus the Mets, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

After going 1-for-19 over his last five games, Drury will receive a day off Friday while Luis Guillorme fills in at the keystone and bats ninth.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Sitting Friday

Lopez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Lopez started the previous five games but will receive a day off after going 4-for-18 with two walks, a triple and three runs during that span. Brooks Baldwin will shift to shortstop while Lenyn Sosa receives a start at second base.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Out against left-hander

Massey is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Detroit.

Ace left-hander Tarik Skubal is toeing the rubber for the Tigers, so it makes sense for Massey to be sitting this one out. Vinnie Pasquantino is getting a start at designated hitter while Salvador Perez occupies first base.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Heads to IL with sprained knee

The Rays placed Palacios on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right knee sprain, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Palacios suffered the injury in Wednesday's loss to the Marlins. The severity of the sprain hasn't been revealed, so it's not clear at this point how long the super utility player might be sidelined. Kameron Misner is absorbing Palacios' spot on the Rays' roster.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Promoted to Double-A

Moore has been promoted from Single-A Inland Empire to Double-A Rocket City, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Moore played just two games with Inland Empire before receiving a promotion, going 6-for-11 with one homer. The Angels have a recent history of being aggressive with their top draft picks, and Blum writes of Moore that he "wouldn't be shocked if he's in the big leagues quite soon." There would seem to be a possibility that the 21-year-old could get a cup of coffee in the majors later this season.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Will head to IL

The Rays are expected to place Palacios on the injured list Friday with a hyperextended right knee, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Palacios was hurt while running the bases in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Marlins and felt his knee lock up. With Palacios bound for the injured list, Jonny DeLuca could end up taking over a full-time role in the outfield after previously being deployed as a short-side platoon player.

  • Will Wagner 2B | SD

Blue Jays' Will Wagner: Could make MLB debut this year

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Wagner could make his big-league debut "sooner than later", Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

The 26-year-old was having an impressive season at Triple-A Sugar Land before being included in the package the Astros sent to the Jays for Yusei Kikuchi, slashing .307/.424/.429 in 70 games with a 54:33 BB:K, albeit with modest power (five homers) and speed (three steals). Wagner saw time at first base, second base and third base with Sugar Land this year and likely profiles as a utility infielder in the majors, fitting the organizational philosophy for a Toronto squad that already has versatile defenders Ernie Clement, Spencer Horwitz, Davis Schneider and Addison Barger on the 26-man roster.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Logs two hits, RBI in loss

Semien went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 10-1 loss to St. Louis.

Semien drove in the Rangers' lone run with a sixth-inning single. He finished off his best month of the season, batting .287/.374/.479 over 24 games during July. After serving as the team's leadoff hitter all season, Semien batted third in the order for the third consecutive game Wednesday -- all coming against right-handers. It's unclear if he'll remain the club's leadoff bat against lefties. Texas kicks off a homestand Friday against the Red Sox, who have three right-handers scheduled.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Managing knee injury

Polanco was removed from Wednesday's game due to knee issues, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Polanco went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk before Leo Rivas replaced him in the field during the eighth inning. Polanco's knee also forced him to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the White Sox, so it's possible the Mariners sit him down for a game or two as a precaution.
