  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Blasts fifth homer

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run homer and an additional run scored in Saturday's win over the A's.

Lowe put the Rays up 2-0 in the second inning with his two-run shot off Dean Kiekhefer, his fifth home run of the season and fourth this month. Over 13 games this month, the 24-year-old rookie is slashing a healthy .297/.366/.494 with nine RBI and 10 runs scored.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Dynamite in win over D-backs

Altuve went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

The steal was his 16th of the year but his first since Aug. 22, and Altuve would need some kind of finish to the season to record his seventh straight 30-SB campaign. Despite his disappointing showing in that category, his .318/.386/.459 slash line is right in line with his career averages.

  • Royals' Whit Merrifield: Scores twice

Merrifield went 2-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and two runs scored Saturday against the Twins.

Merrifield extended his hitting streak to six games, during which he has gone 8-for-24 with four RBI, 10 runs scored and five stolen bases. His 81 runs scored are a career-best mark and he currently leads the American League with 36 steals.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Takes seat Saturday

Polanco is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Polanco will head to the bench after starting the last 14 games at shortstop, slashing .271/.283/.373 over 61 plate appearances in that stretch. Ehire Adrianza will start at shortstop and bat eighth in his stead.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: On bench vs. Yankees

Solarte is out of the lineup against the Yankees on Saturday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Solarte will remain on the bench for the second straight day as Richard Urena gets the nod at second base.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Hits bench Friday

Forsythe is not in the lineup Friday against the Royals.

Forsythe will sit out after making 12 straight starts, a stretch in which he hit just .205 with a .513 OPS. Gregorio Petit will start at second base in his absence.

  • Tigers' Ronny Rodriguez: Not starting Friday

Rodriguez is not in the lineup Friday against the Indians.

With Jose Iglesias done for the year due to an abdominal strain, Rodriguez appears to be the starter going forward at shortstop. He won't get the call Friday, however, with Pete Kozma starting instead.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: Sitting out Friday

Solarte is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Yankees, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Solarte is out of the lineup after starting the last two games, and he's gone 3-for-11 with a strikeout since coming off the disabled list last Sunday. Devon Travis will start at second base while Aledmys Diaz remains at third base.

  • Royals' Whit Merrifield: Stays aggressive on basepaths

Merrifield went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base Thursday against the Twins.

Merrifield remained aggressive on the basepaths and has now swiped six bags in his past six starts. As a result, he leads the American League in steals (36) and is just two shy of major-league leader Trea Turner. He's supplemented that production with an impressive on-base percentage (.367) and 78 runs scored across 563 at-bats.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Laces three-bagger in victory

Lowe went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run in a win over the Indians on Wednesday.

Lowe's first big-league three-bagger served as his third extra-base hit over the last five contests and snapped the 1-for-10 mini-skid he'd endured over the prior three games. The rookie has enjoyed a productive month thus far after showing signs of improvement in late August, as he's batting a solid .294 with three doubles, Wednesday's triple, a home run and seven RBI across 37 September plate appearances.
