The Mets have shut down Polanco's (Achilles/wrist) rehab assignment, Keith Raad of SNY reports.
Polanco, who has been on the injured list since April 18, will head back to New York to be reevaluated. The 32-year-old has struggled at the plate when healthy during his first season with the Mets, slashing .179/.246/.286 across 61 plate appearances.

The Mets announced Saturday that Polanco's rehab assignment has been halted due to ankle soreness.
Polanco began a rehab assignment last week and was expected to be nearing a return to the Mets' lineup, but he reported soreness in his ankle Saturday and will head back to New York to be reevaluated. The 32-year-old has dealt with Achilles and wrist issues this season, and he's now managing yet another injury. Polanco has been limited to 61 plate appearances across 14 games this season, and he's slashed an underwhelming .179/.246/.286 with one home run and two RBI.

Polanco (Achilles/wrist) will remain on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse through the weekend, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Mets' Jorge Polanco: Playing 1B during rehab stint
Polanco (Achilles/wrist) went 1-for-3 with two walks, two strikeouts, a home run and three RBI while playing in rehab games for Double-A Binghamton on Friday and Saturday.
Perhaps more importantly, Polanco started Saturday's game at first base, indicating that the Mets haven't given up on the idea of him being an important contributor at the position. He has yet to play a full nine innings in any of his three rehab games, however, so activation from the 10-day injured list may not be imminent. Per Max Ralph of MLB.com, manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged over the weekend that Polanco likely won't be 100 percent healthy once he's eventually reinstated. However, the skipper suggested that as long as the pain in Polanco's left Achilles doesn't worsen, the 32-year-old will be able to play through the issue. Whenever he rejoins the big-league roster, Polanco will compete with Mark Vientos, Brett Baty and Jared Young for playing time at first base and designated hitter.

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said last Friday that Polanco (wrist/Achilles) has resumed performing baseball activities but is considered week-to-week in his recovery from a pair of injuries, SNY.tv reports.
New York placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list April 18 due to a right wrist bone bruise and left Achilles bursitis. The Achilles issue has been something that Polanco has been managing throughout the season, while the wrist injury is a newer concern. While Polanco's ability to take part in baseball work is a positive sign, a target date for his return from the IL likely won't become clear until he resumes playing in simulated games or minor-league rehab games. Polanco started at first base in the Mets' first two games of the season, but he was deployed exclusively as a designated hitter in his subsequent 12 starts before hitting the IL.
