Reds' Matt McLain: Remains on bench Sunday
McLain (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
The second baseman was scratched from the starting nine the past two days due to hamstring tightness, and while the Reds won't attempt to rush him back for Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee, he could be available off the bench. Santiago Espinal will start at the keystone and bat second in place of McLain.

Garrett Hampson SS | CIN
Diamondbacks' Garrett Hampson: Will remain in utility role
Hampson will continue in a utility role while Tim Tawa gets the majority of playing time at second base in place of the injured Ketel Marte (hamstring), Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports. "Yeah, I think we'll still put Garrett into that role of, you know, primary backup, occasional starting," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.
Hampson filled in for Marte on Friday when he was removed in the first inning of Arizona's 6-4 win over the Nationals. The club placed Marte on the injured list Saturday and called up Tawa for his MLB debut. Hampson entered Saturday's game in the ninth inning as a pinch runner for third baseman Eugenio Suarez.

Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Likely to be primary fill-in at 2B
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo suggested that Tawa will get the majority of playing time at second base while Ketel Marte (hamstring) is on the injured list, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
Tawa, who was called up from Triple-A Reno on Saturday, made his MLB debut later that day in a 4-3 loss to the Nationals. He started at the keystone and went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Though Garrett Hampson came off the bench Friday to fill in for Marte when he got hurt, Lovullo said that he'll likely keep Hampson in a utility role and use him only occasionally at second base while Marte is on the shelf.

Reds' Matt McLain: May be out Sunday
McLain (hamstring) may be held out of the Reds' lineup Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.
McLain doesn't appear to be dealing with a serious issue, though he was out of the lineup both Friday and Saturday after being a late scratch. Manager Terry Francona said the Reds will take a cautious approach as they don't want to force him into the lineup when he isn't at full strength, though he didn't go as far as to rule McLain out for Sunday's matchup against the Brewers.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Swipes another base Saturday
Hoerner went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Padres. He also stole a base.
Hoerner is still looking for his first extra-base hit of the season, though he's made an impact from a fantasy perspective due to his .313 batting average and four stolen bases in only eight games. Clearly, the Cubs trust the infielder to run frequently, and if Hoerner keeps getting on base at a good clip, he figures to rack up more steals in a hurry.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: No longer starting Saturday
McLain was scratched from Saturday's lineup against Milwaukee due to a tight left hamstring.
McLain was also a late scratch due to the hamstring issue Friday, though he was able to appear as a pinch hitter late in the contest. He was originally slated to return to the lineup Saturday but was subsequently removed. McLain had been penciled in at DH before being scratched, and that role will now be assumed by TJ Friedl, while Blake Dunn will move into the lineup in center field.

Reds' Matt McLain: Cleared to return Saturday
McLain (hamstring) is starting at DH and batting second against the Brewers on Saturday.
McLain was a late scratch Friday due to a hamstring injury, but he was able to log a plate appearance as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning. The 25-year-old shortstop is back in the lineup Saturday, suggesting that the hamstring issue isn't a major concern. The struggling Spencer Steer is getting the day off, allowing McLain to stay off his feet as the team's DH. Meanwhile, Santiago Espinal is starting at second base.

Tim Tawa 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Starting at keystone in MLB debut
Tawa is starting at second base and batting ninth in Saturday's game against Washington.
Tawa was called up from Triple-A Reno prior to Saturday's contest, and he'll get a chance to make an impression right away by starting at the keystone in what will be his MLB debut. Tawa's opportunity comes as a result of Ketel Marte (hamstring) landing on the injured list Saturday. In six games at Reno prior to his call-up, Tawa slashed .391/.462/.957 with three home runs, 13 RBI, eight runs and two stolen bases.

Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Promoted from Triple-A
The Diamondbacks recalled Tawa from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
With Ketel Marte (hamstring) headed for the injured list, Tawa will come up from the minors to replenish Arizona's infield depth. The 25-year-old has been phenomenal since reaching Triple-A last season, slashing .317/.368/.665 with 13 homers and 39 RBI across 183 plate appearances. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Lands on injured list
The Diamondbacks placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain.
Marte made an early exit from Friday's contest after hurting himself running to second base on a first-inning double, and he'll now be kept on the sideline until at least April 15. Tim Tawa was recalled from Triple-A Reno to fill the open roster spot, though Garrett Hampson will likely be the one seeing more time at second base until Marte returns.
