  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: In Game 3 lineup Tuesday

Bogaerts (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat sixth Tuesday in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.

Bogaerts was removed from Game 2 on Sunday with a hamstring cramp, but he's ready to roll as the series shift to San Diego. The veteran infielder is 3-for-8 with one home run and three RBI in the first two games of the series.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Hoping for AFL rehab at-bats

The Mets have petitioned Major League Baseball to allow McNeil (wrist) to play some rehab games in the Arizona Fall League, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Facing live pitching is the final hurdle McNeil needs to clear before he's ready to return to action, and sending him to the AFL is the best opportunity for that. McNeil appears to be tracking toward a return for the NLCS, should the Mets advance. He's been shelved since early September with a fractured right wrist.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting against southpaw

Stott is not in the lineup Tuesday for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Mets, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Stott had a big two-run triple as part of a two-hit day in Game 2, but he will begin this one on the bench as the Mets send southpaw Sean Manaea to the bump. Edmundo Sosa will start at second base and bat eighth.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Aiming to be ready for NLCS

McNeil (wrist) went through a full workout Sunday at Citizens Bank Park and hopes to be ready to play if the Mets advance to the NLCS, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Working his way back from a fractured right wrist, McNeil has taken batting practice, fielded grounders and run, with facing live pitching being the next box he needs to check. He has a little less than a week to convince the Mets he should be on their NLCS roster if they're able to top the Phillies in the NLDS. If McNeil is ultimately included on the roster, it wouldn't necessarily be in a starting role. He's been sidelined since early September.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Exits early with hamstring injury

Bogaerts (hamstring) exited Sunday's 10-2 win over the Dodgers in the eighth inning due to a hamstring injury, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Bogaerts launched a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning before exiting the contest soon after with what has been described as a hamstring cramp. Tyler Wade replaced him at shortstop ahead of the bottom of the frame. Bogaerts finished his night 1-for-4 with the solo shot, and his availability moving forward doesn't seem to be in question.

  • Eddy Alvarez RF | ATL

Mets' Eddy Alvarez: Sent to Syracuse

The Mets sent Alvarez outright to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday after he went unclaimed on waivers.

Alvarez was designated for assignment Tuesday, as he was ineligible to be on the postseason roster due to joining the club in September from Boston.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Ramping up activities

McNeil has been cleared to ramp up activities soon after an X-ray showed his fractured right wrist is improving, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

There's no word yet on McNeil's potential availability for later in the postseason if the Mets keep advancing, but it seems as though the team is at least leaving the door open. McNeil is less than four weeks into a projected 4-to-6 week timetable.

  • Eddy Alvarez RF | ATL

Mets' Eddy Alvarez: Removed from 40-man roster

The Mets designated Alvarez for assignment Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Max Kranick, who made the National League Wild Card Series roster as a long reliever. Alvarez didn't join the Mets' organization until September and, thus, was ineligible for their postseason roster.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Drives in five in Monday's matinee

Albies went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a home run and five RBI in an 8-7 loss to the Mets during the first game of Monday's doubleheader.

With Atlanta needing at least one win in the twin bill to make the playoffs, Albies did everything he could in the matinee to book his team's postseason tickets. The second baseman opened the scoring with a two-run homer off Tylor Megill in the third inning, then put his squad back on top in the eighth with a bases-loaded double, only to watch the bullpen implode further in the top of the ninth. Albies also contributed in a 3-0 win in the nightcap, going 1-for-4 with a run scored. The 27-year-old heads into the NL Wild Card Round having gone just 7-for-38 (.184) in nine games since making his late-season return from a wrist injury, but with two homers, five runs scored and seven RBI.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Clubs homer

Marte went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 11-2 win over the Padres.

Marte tagged Martin Perez for a two-run home run in the fourth inning, marking the second baseman's 36th long ball of the campaign. In September, Marte has gone 15-for-63 (.238) with five home runs, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.
