The 25-year-old has a .303/.442/.421 slash line with one home run, nine RBI, 14 runs scored, a stolen base and six doubles through 95 plate appearances. Impressively, his plate discipline has been solid after he didn't post a walk in his first 11 contests. He's walking at a 18.3 percent clip while striking out at just 13.7 percent.

Gorman didn't appear in any of the last three games due to lower-back tightness, but he participated in batting practice and will serve as the designated hitter while batting second Friday. Over his last three games, he's gone 7-for-10 with two homers, a double, six RBI and five runs.

Gorman (back) is feeling "fine" and was held out of the lineup Thursday against the Cubs in hopes of being able to return at full strength Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Gorman went through batting practice but was held out of the lineup and was not used as a pinch hitter Thursday. However, manager Oliver Marmol said that decision was made with the hopes that Gorman would be able to play second base -- rather than only serve as the designated hitter -- for Friday afternoon's game against the Cubs. Gorman has been sidelined by back stiffness for the Cardinals' last three contests.

Kim is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Kim started the past eight games and will head to the bench after posting a .570 OPS during that stretch. Sergio Alcantara will start at shortstop and bat ninth in his place for the series opener in Milwaukee.
