  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Reinstated and optioned

Diaz (opt out) was reinstated from the restricted list Wednesday and optioned to the alternate training site.

The 24-year-old opted out of the season during the Marlins' COVID-19 outbreak early in the season, but he committed to rejoining the team and was approved for reinstatement in late August. Diaz has been workout out at the alternate training site and will remain there until recalled to the big-league roster.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Placed on 10-day IL

Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation Wednesday.

It's unclear exactly how Marte sustained the injury, but he'll be sidelined at least 10 days as a result. While the severity of the injury isn't known, Tim Locastro and Daulton Varsho could see an uptick in playing time in center field. Marte was slashing .290/.324/.407 with two home runs and 14 RBI this season.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Drives in five runs

Urias went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs, five RBI and a caught stealing during Wednesday's 19-0 win over the Tigers.

The 23-year-old was without an extra-base hit in his previous 31 at-bats, but he broke out with two doubles as the Brewers pounded the Tigers on Wednesday. Urias has a .286/.355/.357 slash line with four doubles, a triple, 10 runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases in 25 games this season.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Batting eighth in return

Albies (wrist) will start at second base and will bat eighth Wednesday against the Marlins.

As expected, Albies will re-enter the lineup for the first time since Aug. 4 after the Braves activated him from the 10-day injured list earlier in the day. Though Albies primarily batted out of the two hole before being shut down with the sprained right wrist, the Braves are expected to ride the hot bats of Travis d'Arnaud and Dansby Swanson near the top of the order for the foreseeable future. As a result, Albies may be confined to a spot in the bottom third of the order until he proves deserving of a better assignment.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Giants' Mauricio Dubon: Launches two-run shot

Dubon went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Mariners.

Dubon went deep for the second time this season in the bottom of the fourth inning, tying the score at 4-4. Dubon struggled to gain consistent playing time earlier this season but seems to have settled as an everyday player of late. He is hitting .314 with a .873 OPS, four extra-base hits and seven RBI over his last 10 games.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Activated from IL

Albies (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

He comes right into a tough matchup against righty Pablo Lopez, but this is still a welcome return for those who have been patient while Albies was on the IL. Albies should be the everyday second baseman over the rest of the season. Johan Camargo was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Breaks out with two long balls

Lux went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

The first shot was an opposite field wall scraper, while his second long ball was a towering shot to right field in the 10th inning. The Dodgers' top prospect had a .480 OPS with zero home runs and one steal in 27 at-bats prior to Tuesday's exploits, but now his OPS sits at .793. He has been particularly good of late, hitting .333 with six runs and five RBI over his last 15 at-bats. Lux has made four straight starts, all against right-handed pitchers.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

    Mets' Jeff McNeil: Keeps slugging

McNeil went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run Tuesday against the Orioles.

McNeil homered in his third consecutive game, accounting for each of his long balls this season. This time, he took Asher Wojciechowski deep in the eighth inning. Overall, McNeil is hitting .306/.378/.468 across 143 plate appearances.

  • Mark Mathias 2B | CIN

Brewers' Mark Mathias: Sent to alternate site

Mathias was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Tuesday.

Mathias has bounced on and off of the active roster this season, hitting .278/.278/.361 through his first 36 major-league plate appearances. His absence will clear a roster spot for Corey Knebel (hamstring) to return from the injured list.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

    Nationals' Luis Garcia: Remains sidelined

Garcia (heel) remains on the bench Tuesday against the Rays.

Garcia was scratched from Monday's lineup with a bruised heel and will sit for at least one more day. If he doesn't appear off the bench Tuesday, he'll wind up getting at least three days to rest, as the Nationals have a scheduled off day Wednesday. Josh Harrison remains the starter at second base in his absence.
