Braves' Ozzie Albies: Taking live batting practice

Albies (wrist) is taking live batting practice Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The 23-year-old's progression from the bone contusion in his right wrist he suffered in late July has been slow, but participating in live batting practice is a promising sign for his return. Albies could return sometime next week if he continues ramping up with no issues.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Out of Game 1 lineup

Frazier is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Frazier has a modest six-game hit streak and has a .919 OPS during that stretch, but he'll take a seat for Friday's matinee. Kevin Newman shifts to the keystone while Erik Gonzalez starts at shortstop in Game 1.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Makes second straight start

Rojas started at second base and went 1-for-4 in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Rojas was in the lineup a second straight night after serving as the designated hitter Wednesday. He was recalled Wednesday by the Diamondbacks, who were active sellers at the trade deadline. The 26-year-old. who had one at-bat during a brief stay in the majors earlier this season, should see an uptick in playing time this month.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Drives in three

Rosario went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Yankees.

Rosario didn't record an extra-base hit, but delivered timely knocks to record his fourth multi-RBI effort of the campaign. Since returning from an illness Aug. 25, Rosario has collected eight hits in 29 at-bats, also recording five RBI and six runs scored. Overall, he's hitting .229/.243/.349 with zero stolen bases across 111 plate appearances.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

    Nationals' Luis Garcia: Three-hit game

Garcia went 3-for-4 with two runs scored Thursday against the Phillies.

All of Garcia's hits were singles and the performance extended his hitting streak to a modest three games. The 20-year-old rookie has been inconsistent in his big-league debut, but has managed a .290/.313/.387 line across 64 plate appearances to this point.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Not in Thursday's lineup

Lux isn't starting Thursday against the Diamondbacks, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Lux started in each of the four games since joining the major-league club, but his approached at the plate was questioned by manager Dave Roberts on Wednesday. Enrique Hernandez is starting at second base Thursday, but Lux should start during the team's weekend series against the Rockies, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Takes seat Thursday

Marte is not in Thursday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Now that the Diamondbacks have thrown in the towel on the season, we could see Marte get a maintenance day here and there to give the team's prospects more opportunities to show what they can do down the stretch. Tim Locastro will get the start in center field while leading off against lefty Clayton Kershaw.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Approach questioned by manager

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested Wednesday that Lux is being too passive at the plate, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Lux was brought up to the big-league club Saturday and has been in the starting lineup for all four games since. However, the rookie has managed only two hits in 14 at-bats during that stretch while striking out five times. The Dodgers are five games up in the NL West and appear committed to providing Lux plenty of playing time down the stretch, though he'll need to work on being more aggressive in order to hang on to a starting role into the postseason.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Records second steal

Urias went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Tigers.

Urias got aboard with a single in the seventh inning and stole second base after Eric Sogard hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. It was the second steal of the year for Urias. He's added five RBI and six runs scored while slashing .266/.338/.328 across 71 plate appearances.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Draws another start

Hoerner will start at second base and will bat ninth Wednesday against the Pirates.

Hoerner will stick in the lineup for the fourth time in five games, but Kris Bryant's (wrist) return from the injured list Tuesday could make it difficult for the 23-year-old to keep picking up regular starts. Assuming the Cubs lean on Bryant as their everyday third baseman, Hoerner would have to contend with Jason Kipnis and David Bote for reps at the keystone.
