  • Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Expected to start rehab assignment this weekend

Romo (thumb) is expected to start a rehab assignment for High-A San Jose this weekend, Alex Pavlovic of the Bay Area CSN reports.

Tomlinson was originally placed on the DL on June 10 due to a sprained left thumb. He began taking ground balls last Friday. The next step in his progression will be a rehab assignment beginning this weekend. Barring any setbacks, he appears on track for a return to the big league in early July.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Lands on DL with rib inflammation

Hernandez (ribs) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

The Dodgers officially diagnosed Hernandez with left rib cage inflammation Wednesday, which will put him on the shelf through the All-Star break. His placement on the DL opens a spot on the active roster for Brock Stewart, who will get the start Wednesday against the Brewers. With Hernandez sidelined and Joc Pederson nursing a shoulder injury, the Dodgers will likely lean on an outfield combination of Trayce Thompson, Yasiel Puig, Howie Kendrick, and Scott Van Slyke in the interim.

  • Rockies' Cristhian Adames: Hitting second Wednesday

Adames is hitting second and starting at shortstop Wednesday against the Blue Jays, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

Trevor Story re-injured his finger in Tuesday's game and is out of the lineup Wednesday, so Adames gets the nod. It doesn't sound like Story's injury is too serious, and he will get a chance to get another day of rest with Thursday's off day, so Adames time as a starter could be limited. However, as the No. 2 hitter in Coors Field on Wednesday, he makes for a solid play in daily leagues.

  • Jake Elmore 2B | CHW

Brewers' Jake Elmore: Gets called up

Elmore's contract was selected from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

Elmore will make his fifth trip back to the majors now -- each with a different team -- as Alex Presley gets designated for assignment. The 29-year-old has been an on-base machine this season with Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate, posting a .320 BA and .428 OBP through 57 games. His production in the minors has yet to translate against better competition, however, as he sports a career .215 average in the majors. The first basemen now has another opportunity to prove that he can compete at the highest level.

  • Danny Espinosa 2B | NYM

Nationals' Danny Espinosa: Delivers three hits against Mets

Espinosa went 3-for-5 with a double, a run, two RBI and a steal Monday against the Mets.

Espinosa looked refreshed following Sunday's day off, picking up his sixth multi-hit performance in the last three weeks. The shortstop has earned his every-day lineup spot with a surprisingly productive bat, as he's already just three short of last season's total of 37 RBI to go along with an identical 13 homers in 43 less games played.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Walks three times Monday

Hernandez walked three times and scored once in Monday's 5-4 win over the Pirates.

Hernandez did what leadoff hitters are supposed to do, getting on base in each of his plate appearances against inconsistent southpaw Francisco Liriano. He continues to get playing time against lefties thanks to his ability to get on base despite a .189 average.

  • Rockies' Cristhian Adames: Will start Monday

Adames is in the lineup and batting second for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.

Adames will get the start at shortstop in place of Trevor Story. The 24-year-old is hitting .224/.333/.328 with seven RBI and five runs through 51 games as a reserve.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Braves' Gordon Beckham: Begins rehab assignment Monday

Beckham (hamstring) began his rehab assignment Monday with the rookie-level Gulf Coast Braves, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Beckham went 0-for-3 on the day, but still appears to be progressing well in his rehab as manager Brian Snitker has stated that Beckham is approximately a week away from joining the Braves again. The former first-round pick was having the best season of his career prior to getting injured, hitting .284/.382/.442 with two home runs, 16 RBI and 12 runs in 31 games and will look to keep it going upon his return.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Will hit leadoff Monday

Hernandez will hit leadoff in Monday's game against the Pirates, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA reports.

Hernandez will hit first against Pirates lefty Francisco Liriano with regular leadoff hitter Utley getting a day off. Hernandez is hitting just .189 overall and .203 against left-handed pitchers, but he does own a .757 OPS against lefties thanks to seven extra-base hits and eight walks against pitchers throwing with that arm.

  • Danny Espinosa 2B | NYM

Nationals' Danny Espinosa: Not in Sunday's lineup

Espinosa is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

This will be just the second day off since May 15 for Espinosa, as the veteran has been able to display durability in addition to bursts of offense in 2016. While he sits for a regular maintenance day, Stephen Drew will draw the start at shortstop in his stead.
