Padres' Yangervis Solarte busts out of slump with four-hit night
Padres utility man Yangervis Solarte had quite a night at the plate on Thursday. Batting from the lead-off spot in the order, Solarte went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored.
Solarte saved his biggest hits for late in the game. In the seventh inning, he crushed a pitch to deep left field for his 12th homer of the season--a solo shot which brought the Padres to within a run.
In the next inning, he laced an RBI-double to pad the Padres' lead to their final score of 10-7 in the victory over the Dodgers.
Solarte was in need of a big offensive performance, as he entered the game stuck in a 4-for-26 skid.

Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez (hamstring) to DL; Austin Barnes up
Dodgers utility man Enrique Hernandez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. Hernandez suffered the injury during Sunday's game, forcing him to leave the game early.
To replace him on the roster, the Dodgers recalled catcher Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Dodgers infielder Enrique Hernandez will miss the next few games after sustaining a strained hamstring, reports the Los Angeles Times. Hernandez suffered the injury during Sunday's game.

Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez dealing with hamstring tightness
Dodgers infielder Enrique Hernandez left Sunday's game against the Cubs due to left hamstring tightness, per MLB.com. The injury popped up as he was trying to leg out a grounder in the bottom of the eighth inning.
"I'll wake up (Monday) and see how it feels and go from there," Hernandez said.
Hernandez is batting .364 (24 for 66) with a .545 slugging percentage and .945 OPS in his last 20 games (18 starts). He has three doubles, three home runs and nine RBI in that span.

Dodgers INF Enrique Hernandez out with apparent ankle issue
Dodgers infielder Enrique Hernandez appeared to roll his ankle trying to beat out a ground ball in the eighth inning of the game Sunday night against the Cubs. He was replaced by Justin Turner.
The team has yet to determine the severity of the potential injury.

Giants rookie Kelby Tomlinson goes grand for first MLB home run
Giants infielder Kelby Tomlinson unloaded the bases with one swing of the bat on Thursday. The rookie Tomlison launched his first-career home run for a grand slam, as the Giants beat the Cubs 9-1.
Tomlinson, who was a 12th-round draft pick by the Giants in 2011, has been productive since his callup after Joe Panik went down with an injury. Tomlinson has been playing nearly everyday since being promoted at the beginning of August, and he is batting .346 (18 for 52).

Mattingly: Enrique Hernandez to be primary starter at 2B
Don Mattingly has declared to the Orange County Register that Enrique Hernandez will get the "first shot" at taking over as the starting second baseman for the Dodgers in the wake of a hamstring strain that has landed Howie Kendrick on the disabled list.
That should not be taken literally. Jose Peraza has been promoted and is set to start Monday at second. But Hernandez is starting in center and will apparently be used mostly at second.

Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson wasn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game, after starting 101 games this year.
Pederson was replaced by Enrique Hernandez, who got his eighth start and fourth in the last 10 games.

Giants rookie 2B Kelby Tomlinson remains on roll Wednesday
Giants newcomer Kelby Tomlinson continued to make an impact in the first major league start Wednesday.
The second baseman, who is replacing the injured Joe Panik, made the most of his two hits in a win over Atlanta. He singled in two runs in the second inning and singled in another in the fourth.
He is 3-for-5 since his promotion.

Padres 1B Yangervis Solarte homers twice in Monday's win
Padres first baseman Yangervis Solarte hit two home runs to help power the Padres to a 13-5 win over the Brewers on Monday.
Solarte hit a solo home run in the first inning off Wily Peralta and a three-run home run off Preston Guilmet in the seventh. He finished the game 2 for 4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Solarte now has seven home runs on the season.
Prior to Monday's win, Solarte was hitting .358 with three doubles and four RBI in his last 13 games.
