Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Sitting fourth straight
Lowe (side) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Thursday will mark the fourth consecutive start Lowe has missed since tweaking his left side during Sunday's contest. The Rays haven't indicated that the 31-year-old will need to spend time on the IL, though that could change if he's unable to return to the starting nine soon. While Lowe continues to recover, Taylor Walls will pick up another start at the keystone and bat ninth.

Aroon Escobar 2B | PHI
Phillies' Aroon Escobar: Bumped up to High-A
Escobar was promoted from Single-A Clearwater to High-A Jersey Shore on Tuesday.
A bat-first second baseman from Venezuela, Escobar was one of the best hitters in the Florida Complex League in 2024 (171 wRC+) and his 131 wRC+ was the 10th best mark in the Florida State League prior to his promotion. Escobar is slashing .286/.376/.449 with 11 home runs, 10 steals, a 9.9 percent walk rate and a 16.1 percent strikeout rate through 70 games in his age-20 season.

Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY
Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Goes yard twice Wednesday
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four total RBI in Wednesday's 9-6 win over the Mariners.
Both long balls came off rookie right-hander Logan Evans, and seven of Chisholm's 17 homers on the season have come in his last 12 games -- a stretch in which he's slashing .283/.365/.804 with 10 runs and 15 RBI. The 27-year-old infielder has admitted to a shoulder issue that's bothered him in the field, but it clearly isn't a problem for him at the plate, and his recent shift back to second base should help alleviate the soreness in the second half.

Cole Young SS | SEA
Mariners' Cole Young: Pops first career homer
Young went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Yankees.
The rookie second baseman hit the last of four Seattle long balls on the night, getting hold of a seventh-inning curveball from Jonathan Loaisiga and lofting it into the short porch at Yankee Stadium. It was Young's first career homer in the majors, and while the M's are being patient with the top prospect, his .234/.278/.299 slash line through his first 116 plate appearances suggest the keystone is a spot the team could look to upgrade at the trade deadline.

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Resting for first game of day
McNeil is not in the lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader in Baltimore.
McNeil should be back in the starting nine for the nightcap, but he'll begin Thursday's matinee on the bench. Tyrone Taylor will cover center field and Brett Baty will start at second base for the Mets in the first contest of the day.

Luisangel Acuna 2B | NYM
Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Moves up from Triple-A
The Mets recalled Acuna from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.
Acuna slashed .241/.293/.283 with 11 steals in 65 games for the Mets before being sent down to Triple-A last month. He will offer a bit more versatility than outfielder Travis Jankowski, who was designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Acuna. Even so, Acuna is unlikely to find himself in the lineup on a regular basis.

Marcus Semien 2B | NYM
Rangers' Marcus Semien: Plates four runs in loss
Semien went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and four RBI in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Semien got the scoring started for Texas with an RBI groundout in the first frame. He added a sacrifice fly in the third before launching a two-run homer in the seventh inning. The veteran infielder snapped a mini five-game slump during which he had gone 2-for-20 at the plate. Despite that brief rough stretch, Semien has been quite productive for about the past six weeks -- he's batting .312 with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 28 runs over his past 36 contests dating back to May 30.

Kyle Farmer 2B | COL
Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Homers Wednesday
Farmer went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Red Sox.
Farmer's two-run shot off Isaiah Campbell in the eighth inning snapped a streak of 14 consecutive at-bats without a hit. The utility infielder is up to four home runs on the season, just one shy of matching his 2024 total. He's slashing .219/.262/.348 in 214 at-bats during 2025.
