Polanco went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI in Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Tigers.

Polanco might be the hottest hitter in an exceptional Twins lineup, as he closed out August with a .404/.492/.673 slash line, three home runs, 16 runs and nine RBI over his last 13 contests. He'll carry a four-game multi-hit streak into the third game of the series in Detroit on Sunday, when he'll man shortstop and occupy the No. 2 spot in the order.

The Athletics recalled Barreto from Triple-A Las Vegas ahead of Sunday's game against the Yankees.

The 23-year-old will provide the Athletics with some additional depth in the infield and outfield but is unlikely to see meaningful at-bats in September with Oakland firmly in the mix for a playoff spot. Barreto posted a .926 OPS to go with 19 home runs and 15 steals at Las Vegas this season but has struggled across multiple abbreviated stints in the majors, slashing .106/.125/.255 over 48 plate appearances.

Oakland designated Joseph for assignment Sunday.

The Athletics called up Joseph from Triple-A Las Vegas in mid-August with the hope he would provide an upgrade at second base over Jurickson Profar. That ultimately didn't materialize, as Joseph slashed .189/.225/.324 across 40 plate appearances while Profar caught fire as August came to an end. Joseph will now surrender his spot on both the active and 40-man rosters with the Athletics needing to clear a spot for depth catcher Sean Murphy, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and five RBI in a 10-7 victory against the Twins on Saturday.

The 27-year-old had a two-run homer in the third as well as the sixth while adding a sacrifice fly for a fifth RBI. All of a sudden, Rodriguez has some major pop, as he hit six homers in his final 12 games of August. He is batting .236 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI, 26 runs and three steals in 220 at-bats this season.

Biggio went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, three RBI, two runs and a walk in a 6-4 victory over the Astros on Saturday.

The 24-year-old homered in his last two games of the month, but overall, he came into the night with an August OPS well below .700, and he finished the month with a .220 average. Overall, Biggio is batting .215 with 12 home runs, 35 RBI, 47 runs and nine steals in 274 at-bats this season.

Manager Dave Roberts said the Dodgers have yet to decide whether or not to promote Lux in September, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Lux will likely join the team regardless, but if he isn't actually called up he would work in an apprentice-type role to gain experience while not being eligible to play in games. The 21-year-old has done everything he can to prove he's ready in 48 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .390/.478/.723 with 13 home runs since his promotion in late June. According to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, whatever the Dodgers decide, Lux won't join the team when rosters expand Sunday, but he could arrive during the week once Oklahoma City's season officially comes to an end.

Chavis (shoulder/side) is returning to Boston to be evaluated Monday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Chavis was scratched from the nightcap of Friday's doubleheader with Triple-A Pawtucket due to right side soreness, and he'll return to the big-league club to determine the severity of the injury. The 24-year-old was nearing the end of his rehab assignment for a right shoulder sprain and was on track to be activated when rosters expanded Sunday before the side injury cropped up.

Marte (hamstring) said that he thinks he will return to the lineup Sunday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The Diamondbacks held Marte out of Friday's lineup due to a lingering right hamstring issue and he will sit again Saturday, though he's available to pinch hit. Marte's slash line has only gotten better since the All-Star break and he's stolen four bags in August after swiping five total over the first four months of the season. He's been a top-eight outfielder so far in terms of year-to-date fantasy value.

Diaz is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Following an 0-for-4 showing Friday, Diaz is now batting .157 through his first 24 games, and he's been caught on both of his stolen-base attempts. The Marlins should be content to let Diaz work through his struggles, but manager Don Mattingly fills out the lineup card, and he may decide to leave Diaz out in favor of Neil Walker more often if Diaz can't get something going at the plate.

Arraez is not starting Saturday against the Tigers.

Arraez will head to the bench against left-hander Matthew Boyd after starting the past two games and going 2-for-8 with three runs scored and two RBI. In his place, Jonathan Schoop is manning second base and hitting ninth.
