  • Reds' Jonathan India: Held out again Tuesday

India (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Phillies.

India has now been out of the lineup for three straight games as he battles a nasty illness. He remains day-to-day. Santiago Espinal will occupy second base again, and it will be Stuart Fairchild in the leadoff spot.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Breaks slump with walk-off blast

Gorman hit a two-run, walk-off home run in his lone at-bat in Monday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Gorman was given Monday off, but he ultimately entered the game as a defensive replacement. His lone at-bat ended the game, as he took Kyle Nelson deep in the ninth inning to complete the Cardinals' comeback win. Gorman has four homers, 10 RBI, six runs scored and three doubles over 84 plate appearances this season, but he's slashing just .179/.238/.372 and striking out at a 38.1 percent clip, so he's not out of the woods yet. Gorman should continue to play against most right-handers, but he'll rarely be in the lineup versus southpaws.

  • Jorbit Vivas 2B | NYY

Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Activated from Triple-A IL

Vivas (eye) has been activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Vivas suffered an orbital fracture late in spring training but is now ready for game action. The 23-year-old utility player is on the 40-man roster and could eventually push for his first big-league promotion this season.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Takes modest step toward return

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Lowe (oblique) has started swinging a bat and fielding ground balls, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe landed on the injured list April 12 with a right oblique strain but doesn't appear close to being activated, despite having been able to take part in some baseball activities. Curtis Mead and Amed Rosario will likely continue to share work at second base in Lowe's absence.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Swipes two bags Monday

Mateo went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in Monday's 4-2 win against the Angels.

Mateo made his second start in three games and used his legs to help the Orioles score their second run, following a third-inning walk with a pair of thefts before coming home on an Adley Rutschman single. The performance was indicative of what Mateo brings to Baltimore -- he's an elite base stealer when he's able to reach, but with a career .224 batting average and .271 OBP, that doesn't happen enough to keep him in the lineup consistently. From a fantasy perspective, Mateo is most useful as a base-stealing specialist in leagues that allow daily lineup changes.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Two hits in 2024 debut

Mendick went 2-for-4 on Monday against the Twins.

Mendick began the season with Triple-A Charlotte but joined the big-league club Monday and made his debut while starting at third base. Braden Shewmake has picked up the majority of at-bats at the hot corner since Yoan Moncada (thigh) went down, though Shewmake is hitless in his last four starts and is just 5-for-35 overall. His struggles could open up more regular playing time for Mendick, though he has only a career .242 average and .112 ISO across 519 plate appearances.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Belts fifth homer

Julien went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Monday's win over the White Sox.

Julien doubled in a run during the fourth inning before capping off the 7-0 victory with a solo shot in the seventh. He was stuck in a 3-for-24 skid over his previous seven games since his last long ball April 13. Julien continues to flash his power potential with five home runs and eight extra-base hits through 81 plate appearances. However, his inconsistency has led to a .211/.300/.465 slash line.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Taking seat Monday

Drury is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Drury returned from a three-day absence with a hamstring injury to play all three contests of the weekend series versus the Reds, but he'll get a break Monday. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base Monday.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Not starting Monday

Rengifo is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Rengifo had started the last six games and 11 of the previous 13, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base, and Miguel Sano will handle third.

  • Zach Remillard 2B | CHW

White Sox's Zach Remillard: Pushed off 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Remillard for assignment Monday.

As anticipated, Remillard was moved off the 40-man roster so that the White Sox could open up a spot for infielder Danny Mendick, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of Monday's game against the Twins. Assuming Remillard goes unclaimed off waivers, he'll likely remain in the organization and serve as infield depth at Charlotte.
