  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Riding pine Saturday

Castro isn't starting Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Castro is getting a day off after he hit .281 with three doubles, three runs and three RBI over the last eight games. Kody Clemens will take over at first base and bat ninth.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers again Friday

Gorman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.

Gorman padded the Cardinals' lead with his sixth-inning blast off Washington starter Anibal Sanchez. Four of Gorman's last six hits have left the yard, though those hits have come over a span of 10 games. The rookie continues to be boom or bust at the plate, as evidenced by his .230/.302/.443 slash line with 11 homers, 25 RBI, 29 runs scored, a stolen base and a 32.2 percent strikeout rate through 202 plate appearances.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Records steal in win

Semien went 1-for-5 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Angels.

Semien forced both of the Angels' errors in the contest. He opened the scoring in the sixth inning, hitting a double and then darting home on Jo Adell's error. In the ninth, Semien got aboard on a Luis Rengifo error and again came around to score as part of a five-run rally to pad the Rangers' lead. While Semien has gone just 4-for-30 (.133) in his last seven games, he remains a fixture in the lineup. He's slashing .236/.295/.392 with 18 steals in 20 attempts while adding 13 home runs, 46 RBI, 54 runs scored, 19 doubles and a pair of triples through 98 contests.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Fills stat sheet Friday

Kim went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Twins.

Kim went yard in the second inning, snapping a 17-game homer drought. The shortstop also singled, stole second and scored in the fifth. This was just his second multi-hit performance since the All-Star break. For the season, he's slashing .243/.327/.365 with six homers, 35 RBI, 38 runs scored and six stolen bases in 91 contests.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Sheds walking boot

Albies was in the weight room without a walking boot Friday and manager Brian Snitker said Albies is "feeling really good," Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Albies donned the walking boot for a ceremony Snitker and he took part in but it sounds like the skipper is pretty optimistic about his second baseman's status. It was reported a couple weeks ago that Albies could return in mid-to-late August.

  • Diamondbacks' Yonny Hernandez: Recalled by Diamondbacks

Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Hernandez was sent down by the Diamondbacks on May 22 and has hit .211 with a home run, three triples, two doubles, 22 runs, 16 RBI and 12 stolen bases over 38 minor-league games since then. Despite his lackluster results in Reno, the 24-year-old will rejoin the big-league club to provide infield depth.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

    Phillies' Bryson Stott: Resting Friday

Stott isn't starting Friday against Pittsburgh.

Stott started the first seven games after the All-Star break and slashed .250/.357/.458 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and four runs. Yairo Munoz is starting at the keystone and batting seventh.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Out of Friday's lineup

Donovan is not in the lineup for Friday's game at Washington, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Donovan started the past eight games across five different positions, and he'll take a seat after posting a .261/.438/.261 slash line during that stretch. Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter while Lars Nootbaar starts in right field.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Records eighth steal

Gimenez went 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Gimenez was plunked in the fourth inning and quickly took another base with his first steal since July 12. After posting three straight multi-hit efforts coming out of the All-Star break, the second baseman has cooled off, going 2-for-14 in his last five contests. He's still maintained an excellent .296/.360/.479 slash line with 11 home runs, eight steals, 45 RBI, 36 runs scored, 14 doubles and two triples through 87 contests. If he can't get out of his slump soon, he may receive a day off to reset.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Steals in consecutive games

Estrada went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Cubs.

Estrada notched his second steal in as many days and his 15th in 17 attempts this year in the eighth inning. The infielder has produced six multi-hit efforts in his last 16 contests, going 18-for-57 (.316) in that span as one of the Giants' most consistent hitters. He's slashing .265/.317/.412 with nine home runs, 41 RBI, 49 runs scored, 16 doubles and a triple through 88 games this year.
