  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Claims primary role at second base

Walls will start at second base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will stay in the lineup for the sixth time in seven games and appears to have solidified himself as the Rays' primary second baseman ahead of Vidal Brujan, at least until Brandon Lowe (back) returns from the injured list. Though he's produced a measly .186/.213/.302 slash line since the beginning of June, Walls' excellent defense in the middle infield looks as though it'll be enough to keep him atop the depth chart for now.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: On bench Sunday

Ramirez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

This looks like nothing more than a rest day for Ramirez after he started both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Gabriel Arias slots in at third base and as the No. 3 hitter against lefty Jordan Montgomery. Ramirez has uncharacteristically struck out six times in his last three games, so he could probably use the day off to sit back and observe.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Takes seat Sunday

Bregman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Aledmys Diaz will get a turn at third base as Bregman sits. Bregman went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's game, but he also struck out three times -- rare for the 28-year-old. It was his first three-strikeout game of the season.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Heads to bench Sunday

LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

There has been no word of an injury, so this is presumably a rest day for LeMahieu after he started both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Anthony Rizzo will be in LeMahieu's customary leadoff spot against right-hander Triston McKenzie.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Homers, swipes base Saturday

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two walks, three total runs and a stolen base in a win over the Guardians in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.

LeMahieu hit one of four Yankees homers in the matinee, going deep to right field in the third inning for the team's first run of the game. He finished with his 17th multi-hit performance of the campaign and added his third stolen base. Though LeMahieu went 0-for-3 in the nightcap, he took a walk to extend his on-base streak to 12 games.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Monster showing across twin bill

Paredes went 4-for-10 with a double, two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored while starting both games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

By homering in both ends of the doubleheader, Paredes upped his total to 13 in just 40 games this season. Eight of those 13 home runs have come in Paredes' last 10 games. Paredes has a .916 OPS, and while it can be dangerous to go chasing hot streaks, this one should at least solidify his playing time for a stretch.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Set to begin rehab assignment

Urias (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Urias was not initially expected to require a rehab assignment, but he'll get at least one game with Bowie before he's activated from the 10-day injured list. Once the 28-year-old is cleared to return, he'll likely resume a significant role at third base, with Jonathan Arauz and Tyler Nevin likely to see reduced playing time.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Not starting Game 1

Donaldson isn't in the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

Donaldson started in the last seven games and hit .167 with four doubles, two RBI, a run, three walks and eight strikeouts. DJ LeMahieu is shifting to the hot corner while Matt Carpenter starts at first base.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Drives in two Thursday

Toro went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.

Toro drove in the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly in foul territory in the first inning. His fifth-inning single then plated Jesse Winker to snap a 4-4 tie and give the Mariners a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Toro has now reached safely in six straight games, an encouraging span during which he's produced a .333 batting average and .961 OPS across 20 plate appearances.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Sits Friday afternoon

Chapman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Tampa Bay.

An 0-for-3 showing in Thursday's series opener has Chapman hitting .231 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI in his last 10 games. Santiago Espinal starts at third base while Cavan Biggio plays second.
