Arenado went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's victory over the Marlins.

Arenado took Eury Perez yard for a solo shot in the sixth inning, moving his season total to 17 with three games left before the All-Star break. His home-run total ranks fourth among third basemen while Arenado is third at the position in batting average (.280). The 32-year-old has been red hot at the plate across his last nine games, going 12-for-30 (.400) with eight RBI and seven runs scored.

Triolo is not in Thursday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Triolo had started eight consecutive games since being promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis. He's hit fairly well in the small sample by maintaining a .286 batting average, though he's also struck out 11 times in 32 plate appearances. He'll lose his spot at third base due to the return of Ke'Bryan Hayes and may have to settle for splitting time in the middle infield with Nick Gonzales, Rodolfo Castro and Tucupita Marcano.

Hayes was activated from the injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Dodgers.

Hayes has been sidelined since June 28 with lower-back stiffness. He should return to an everyday role at third base, and he'll lead off Thursday's game against the Dodgers with lefty Julio Urias on the mound.

Baty isn't in the Mets' lineup Thursday against Arizona due to hamstring soreness, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said Baty might still be available off the bench Thursday, but there's a good chance the team holds Baty out so he can rest his hamstring. The concern level surrounding Baty's injury seems low, and he should be considered day-to-day going forward.

Baty is not in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Luis Guillorme will start at third base and bat ninth versus the Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. This is presumably a planned day of rest for the left-handed-hitting Baty, who has slashed .323/.364/.452 over his last 34 plate appearances dating back to June 25.

Longoria is out of the lineup Thursday against the Mets.

Emmanuel Rivera will start at third base and bat sixth. Longoria seemed to gain a leg up on the position toward the end of June, but he and Rivera have largely been splitting playing time over the last week or so.

Arenado went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-9 loss against the Marlins.

Arenado doubled in each of his first two at-bats, with the latter one scoring Lars Nootbaar and Paul Goldschmidt to bring the Cardinals back within striking distance. He again doubled to lead off the seventh before coming around to score on a Willson Contreras single, making it a one-run game. The third baseman is now hitting .368 through five games in July to go along with six doubles, three RBI and four runs scored. He's also hit safely in seven of his last eight games.

Washington manager Davey Martinez had De La Cruz's bat checked prior to his first at-bat in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Nationals, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

De La Cruz uses a rubber sleeve over the knob of that bat, which normally houses an electronic telemetry device used as a swing tracker in batting practice. Umpires ordered him to remove the sleeve for his first at-bat, which ended in a strikeout. The Reds received clearance from MLB for De La Cruz to use the rubber housing, sans electronics, but that was not communicated to the umpiring crew prior to the game. Once MLB cleared the use of the sleeve, De La Cruz launched a home run that traveled 455 feet in his next at-bat and added two doubles.

Machado went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and three total RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Angels.

Machado hit the lone homer of the contest for the Padres, swatting a 401-foot solo shot in the sixth inning. The third baseman also singled in a run in the third and produced another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. Machado has registered four multi-hit performances over his five games so far in July, going 9-for-20 with three homers and eight RBI over that stretch. That follows a mostly uneventful June during which he posted a .262/.292/.431 slash line with four homers over 26 contests.

Madrigal underwent imaging scans Wednesday which revealed a moderate right hamstring strain, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Madrigal was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday and won't be cleared to resume baseball activities until the strain is fully healed. He's eligible to be activated right after the All-Star break, but it sounds like his absence could extend into late July. Christopher Morel and Patrick Wisdom are expected to share playing time at third base for the Cubs in the meantime.
