  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Activated from injured list

Senzel (toe) was activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Will Benson has been optioned out by the Reds in a corresponding roster move. Senzel tallied a homer and two doubles during his seven-game minor-league rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville and has a path to regular playing time in the Reds' outfield, but the 27-year-old former top prospect has mostly been unproductive in the majors over the last handful of seasons while dealing with numerous injuries. He'll start in center field and bat sixth Thursday against the Phillies and lefty Bailey Falter.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Torments Giants again

Muncy went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in a 10-5 win over San Francisco on Wednesday.

Muncy entered the three-game series against the Giants with just one homer and a .121/.293/.212 slash line, but he turned things around quickly against his team's biggest rival. The third baseman feasted on San Francisco pitching to the tune of four homers and 11 RBI while going 5-for-9 in the series despite beginning the middle game on the bench. Muncy might be a surefire Hall of Famer if he could face the Giants every game -- he has 25 long balls and 55 RBI against them over 75 career contests spanning 296 plate appearances.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Homers in Wednesday's win

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Rockies.

Arenado has driven in multiple runs three times in his last five games. He's been excellent as usual to begin 2023, hitting safely in 11 of 12 games to start the season. The third baseman is slashing .327/.382/.490 with two homers, 13 RBI, six runs scored and two doubles through 55 plate appearances.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Reds' Kevin Newman: Losing work to Barrero

Newman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Jose Barrero will get his third consecutive start at shortstop while Newman remains on the bench once again. With Barrero having provided three hits -- including a two-run home run -- through the first two games of the series, he looks like he'll continue to be prioritized over Newman.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Brewers' Brian Anderson: Out of lineup Wednesday

Anderson is not in the starting for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Anderson will take a seat against Drey Jameson and the Diamondbacks for the series finale against Arizona. Mike Brosseau gets the start at third base and will hit ninth while Joey Wiemer will play right field and hit in the eighth spot.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

    Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Sitting Wednesday

Sosa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

The Phillies have been using a rotation of players to fill the lineup spot vacated by Darick Hall (thumb), but Sosa looks to be ahead of fellow utility players Josh Harrison and Kody Clemens at the moment. Sosa will be on the bench Wednesday, however, after starting in three of the previous four games. Clemens will get the nod at first base while Alec Bohm shifts back across the diamond to third base.

  • Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI

Pirates' Rodolfo Castro: Bows out of lineup

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

After Oneil Cruz exited Sunday's 1-0 win over the White Sox with a lower leg injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for around four months, Castro received the first two starts at shortstop in Cruz's stead. Though he's committed an error in both of those games, he's gotten on base in all but one his seven plate appearances during that span. Ji Hwan Bae will get the nod at shortstop Wednesday, but Castro looks like he'll still have at least a semi-regular role in the Bucs' middle infield for the foreseeable future.

  • Rodolfo Castro 2B | PHI

Pirates' Rodolfo Castro: Two hits, scores twice

Castro went 2-for-4 with two runs scored Tuesday against the Astros.

Castro has started at shortstop in both games since Oneil Cruz (ankle) went down, and he's hit seventh in the order on each occasion. While his defensive play has been unsteady, Castro reached base three times Tuesday -- he was hit by a pitch in the second inning -- and has at least one hit in three of his last four games. He has only one RBI and one extra-base hit across 26 plate appearances for the season, but he now has a clear path to playing time.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Blasts third homer

McMahon went 2-for-5 with three-run home run during Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the Cardinals.

McMahon singled during the first inning and clubbed a three-run homer in the fifth, but he struck out in his other three plate appearances. The 28-year-old has three home runs and eight RBI through 12 games, though he's hitting just .220 and has a 39.1 percent strikeout rate.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Steals first base of season in win

Hayes went 2-for-4 with a double while scoring a run and stealing a base in Tuesday's win over the Astros.

It's the first steal of the season for Hayes. The third baseman also had his second multi-hit effort of the season, and it helps break an 0-for-11 skid over his last three games. With the pair of hits, Hayes is now slashing .159/.178/.227 over 44 at-bats.
