  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Slugs fifth homer

Wisdom went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

Wisdom capitalized on an inning-opening error in the second frame, crushing a 418-foot shot to center to give Chicago a 2-0 lead. He struck out in his other two at-bats, highlighting the all-or-nothing nature of his plate appearances this season. Wisdom has maintained a .400 average despite striking out 11 times in 30 at-bats, and five of his 12 hits have left the yard.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Could be available Sunday

Manager Dave Roberts announced Saturday that X-rays on Muncy's sprained right ankle came back negative and that the infielder could be available to pinch hit Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletica reports.

Muncy was diagnosed with a mild ankle sprain earlier Saturday, and Roberts' update confirms that the injury is no more than that. It doesn't look like the slugger will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against Atlanta, but he may have a chance to come off the bench.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Dealing with shoulder issue

Manager Gabe Kapler said following Saturday's win over the Cubs that Longoria is being evaluated for a potential shoulder injury after a collision with shortstop Brandon Crawford forced the third baseman to exit in the ninth inning, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Kapler wasn't yet able to provide any information on the seriousness of the injury, but did note that it is the shoulder hindering Longoria. Further updates figure to be given Sunday, if not later Saturday night.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Exits after collision

Longoria exited Saturday's game against the Cubs after colliding with shortstop Brandon Crawford while attempting to field a groundball in the ninth inning, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

It's not entirely clear what Longoria may have injured during the play, but further updates are likely to come later Saturday. Donovan Solano entered the game at second base as Mauricio Dubon shifted to the hot corner. Crawford was able to remain in the game.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Clubs 14th homer

Escobar went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-5 loss to Milwaukee.

The third baseman's long ball in the seventh inning tied the game at 5-5. Escobar hasn't hit for much of an average (.244), but he's posted 14 homers, 41 RBI, 33 runs scored and a stolen base in 251 plate appearances as Arizona's everyday option at the hot corner.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Returns to lineup

McMahon (groin) is starting Saturday's game against the Athletics.

McMahon was out of the lineup in the last two games due to a left groin strain, but he went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter Friday. He'll start at second base and bat fifth Saturday.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Dealing with mild sprain

Muncy is dealing with a mild right ankle sprain and may not return to the lineup Sunday, but he's still considered day-to-day, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Muncy suffered the injury while trying to beat out a double play Friday. He'll be on the bench Saturday and possibly Sunday as well, which would give him three full days to rest given Monday's scheduled off day, but it doesn't appear as though the Dodgers plan on placing him on the injured list.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not in Saturday's lineup

Muncy (ankle) will not start Saturday's game against Atlanta, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Muncy left Friday's game in the fourth inning after hurting his ankle while trying to beat out a double play. He's considered day-to-day but will rest for at least one game, with Matt Beaty taking over at first base. The Dodgers have an off day Monday, so it's possible Muncy sits Sunday as well in order to give his ankle three full days to heal.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Slugs first career homer

Sosa went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Reds on Friday.

The fill-in shortstop took Luis Castillo deep to left field in the fifth inning, putting the Cardinals' first run on the board with his 419-foot shot. The round tripper was the first of Sosa's career and extended his hitting streak to four games. The 25-year-old has done an admirable job holding down the fort while Paul DeJong (ribs) has been on the injured list, but with the latter set to begin a two-game rehab assignment Saturday, Sosa's allotment of regular playing time is likely nearing its end.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Homers as pinch hitter

Vosler hit a solo home run in his only at-bat in Friday's 8-5 win over the Cubs.

Vosler hit for relief pitcher Dominic Leone in Friday's bullpen game, and he smashed his second home of the season to center field. The 27-year-old infielder has been a bench option for much of his limited big-league time. He's added three RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base in 25 plate appearances.
