  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Swipes second bag

Segura went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base, a double and a run scored Monday against the Marlins.

Segura delivered an RBI double in the top of the ninth inning to close the gap, but Miami would hang on for the 9-6 victory. He's in the midst of a modest four-game hitting streak, collecting two extra-base hits, three RBI and two walks over that brief stretch. Segura is slashing .331/.373/.484 through 33 contests in 2021.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Clubs 12th homer

McMahon went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Monday's 3-2 win over the Mets.

He took David Peterson deep in the second inning, the first homer the Mets southpaw has given up in his career to a left-handed hitter. McMahon has gone yard three times in the last four games, giving him 12 homers on the season to go with a .258 batting average and 30 RBI through 48 games.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Exits with shoulder issue

Anderson was removed from Monday's game against the Phillies due to left shoulder soreness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The initial prognosis appears promising for the third baseman, but he's likely headed for further evaluation to determine his status moving forward. Jon Berti and Jose Devers could time at the hot corner if Anderson is forced to miss extended time.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Remains sidelined

Machado (shoulder) will sit for the fourth straight game Monday against Milwaukee, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

A tight shoulder has kept Machado sidelined since Wednesday. He went hitless in five of his last eight games, a slump which could potentially have been injury-related. Ha-Seong Kim remains the third baseman in his absence.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Designated for assignment

Peterson (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment Monday.

Peterson spent just over a month on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb injury and had been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville recently. While the 31-year-old is now healthy, he'll be cast off the 40-man roster as part of a shuffle after Keston Hiura was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Working way back

The Pirates are expected to work through a spring-training like progression with Hayes (wrist) as he targets an early-June return date, 93.7 The Fan Pittsburgh reports.

The third baseman doubled and homered in his second rehab game for Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. "I think about it like an early spring-training schedule," general manager Ben Cherington said Sunday afternoon. "Typically a position player will start with four or five innings, maybe a couple at-bats and then build up over a number of days with some off-days built in. That'll be the same with Ke'Bryan. He's now into his game progression." Hayes is eligible to come off the 60-day injured list on June 3.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Swats solo home run

Muncy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, two walks and two runs scored in Sunday's 11-5 win over the Giants.

Muncy led off the fourth with a 433-foot bomb to straightaway center to extend the Dodgers' lead to 11-0. The long ball was his second in as many games and he has also reached base multiple times in each of his last four games after drawing two walks in Sunday's win. He has had an excellent month of May, slashing .381/.500/.762 with seven home runs, 14 RBI, 17 runs scored, a stolen base and a 13:19 BB:K.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Out Sunday with tight back

Cubs manager David Ross said Duffy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to "low back tightness," Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Ross seemed to suggest Duffy's injury is a day-to-day concern, so the 30-year-old could be available off the bench and may be ready to rejoin the lineup following Monday's team off day. Duffy has been an unsung hero for the Cubs this season, batting .278 with a home run and three stolen bases across 106 plate appearances.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Stays hot with two more homers

Riley went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Sunday's 7-1 win over Pittsburgh.

Riley has been on an absolute tear during his eight-game hitting streak, going 14-for-28 (.500) with six homers, 11 RBI and 10 runs scored in that span. The third baseman's surge has seen him raise his OPS from .769 to .963 in the last week. He's added nine homers, 21 RBI and 27 runs scored across 181 plate appearances this season.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Missing third straight game

Machado (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Ha-Seong Kim will pick up another start at third base in place of Machado, who will be on the bench for the third day in a row on account of a tight shoulder. The Padres haven't indicated that Machado has been cleared to resume full hitting and throwing activities, so he could be in danger of landing on the 10-day injured list if he doesn't show any meaningful improvement heading into the team's four-game series in Milwaukee that begins Monday.
