  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Scratched with sore shoulder

Senzel was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox due to a sore shoulder, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

This is already the second time the oft-injured outfielder has dealt with a shoulder injury this season, as he left the Reds' Opening Day contest for the same reason. He missed only one game that time, but it remains to be seen whether he'll be similarly lucky this time around. Tyler Naquin entered the lineup as his replacement.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Sits for first time

Arenado is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mets, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Arenado sits after starting each of the Cardinals' first 29 games. He's bounced back nicely from a poor 2020 campaign, though leaving Coors Field has taken the expected bite out of his numbers. He's hitting a solid .265/.325/.496 with five homers through his first 29 games in a Cardinals uniform. Matt Carpenter will fill in for him at third base Tuesday.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Begins rehab assignment

Segura (quadriceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Segura has missed two weeks with a strained right quadriceps, but it looks like his return is now on the horizon. The Phillies haven't provided an exact timeline, but he shouldn't need very many rehab games to get back in shape following a relatively brief absence.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: On bench for afternoon game

Longoria will sit for the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Those with Longoria on their teams won't love seeing him miss out on a game at Coors Field, but it's no surprise that the Giants won't ask his 35-year-old legs to handle two games in one day. Jason Vosler starts at third base in his absence, but Longoria will likely return to the lineup for the nightcap.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

    Giants' Jason Vosler: Receives call-up

The Giants recalled Vosler from their alternate training site Tuesday.

He was summoned to replace Tommy La Stella (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Like La Stella, Vosler is a left-handed hitter capable of playing both corner-infield spots, but the Giants are unlikely to view the 27-year-old as much more than a depth piece while he's up with the big club. Wilmer Flores and Mauricio Dubon are likelier candidates to pick up starts while La Stella is on the mend.

  • Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE

Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Making progress with swing

Kieboom has made significant progress with his swing at the Nationals' alternate training site, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports. "His batting practices look totally different than they did in spring training," Triple-A Rochester manager Matt LeCroy said Monday, "He's ready to show people that he can play."

The 23-year-old squandered another chance to lock down a starting role in the majors this spring due to his struggles at the plate, but the Nats haven't yet given up on him. Josh Harrison's hot start has taken away some urgency for the team to get Kieboom to the majors, but if the youngster rakes at Triple-A, he could put pressure on Starlin Castro, whose .253/.271/.341 slash line is below expectations.

  • Cubs' Ildemaro Vargas: Recalled, starting

Vargas was recalled by the Cubs and will bat eighth and play second base in the first half of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.

Vargas spent three days in the big leagues in mid-April, going 0-for-2 in a pair of appearances off the bench. With a career .252/.280/.388 slash line, Vargas is unlikely to find himself in the lineup on a regular basis during his time with the team.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Blasts fifth homer

Arenado went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Mets.

The third baseman took Joey Lucchesi deep in the third inning, snapping his 14-game homerless drought. Arenado has been productive to begin his first season with St. Louis, hitting .265 with five home runs and 21 RBI through 29 games.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Set for rehab assignment

Segura (quadriceps) will embark on a rehab assignment this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

It's not clear exactly when the assignment will begin or how long it will last, but Segura should be back from his strained right quadriceps before too long. He was hitting .333/.359/.450 through 17 games prior to the injury.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Placed on injured list

Davis (hand) landed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Davis left Saturday's game against the Phillies with a sprained left hand, and the issue is evidently serious enough to sideline him for at least 10 days. Jonathan Villar will step into the lineup in his absence, batting seventh and playing third base Monday against the Cardinals. Trevor Hildenberger was recalled in a corresponding move.
