Phillies' Jean Segura: Leaves with apparent injury

Segura was removed in the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Mets with an apparent leg injury, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Segura appeared to step awkwardly on first base while he beat out an infield single in the inning, prompting the Phillies to summon Neil Walker from the bench to pinch run for him. The Phillies should shed more light on the nature of Segura's injury later Sunday, but for now, he can be viewed as day-to-day heading into the team's two-game set in Boston that begins Tuesday.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Drives in three

Muncy went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Saturday's win over the Angels.

Muncy returned to the lineup after a planned rest day and delivered for the Dodgers, plating two runs with a single in the third inning and driving home the eventual winning run with the first leadoff sacrifice fly in MLB history in the 10th. The performance snapped a six-game skid without a run batted in for Muncy and served as his first multiple-RBI game since July 24.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Pulled from victory line Friday

Senzel was pulled from Friday night's victory line and was visibly upset, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "It's just something personal and internal with Nick and our team that we'll have more information on coming up," manager David Bell said.

The Reds and Pirates have been out of action this weekend after a Reds player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday night. That player hasn't yet been named, nor have the Reds elaborated on Senzel's status. Eventually we'll understand whether those two issues are related.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Swats third homer

Segura went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Mets.

His second-inning shot off Steven Matz was the game's only run until the Phillies broke it open in the fifth. Segura now has three homers on the year, all of them coming in the last week, but his .220 batting average through 15 contests remains well below his usual standards.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting Friday

Muncy will be on the bench Friday against the Angels.

Muncy had started each of the Dodgers' first 20 games but hadn't had much success at the plate, hitting .169/.289/.351. Edwin Rios will be the first baseman Friday, with Enrique Hernandez starting at second.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Day off Friday

Escobar is out of the lineup Friday against the Padres.

The 31-year-old was out of the lineup for the first time this season Sunday, and he'll return to the bench Friday after going 3-for-15 with two RBI and four strikeouts in the past three games. Escobar has a .470 OPS and 25 percent strikeout rate through 75 plate appearances this season. Andy Young will start at the hot corner for Arizona.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Not in Friday's lineup

Davis is out of the lineup Friday against the Phillies.

Davis started the last 11 games but will head to the bench after going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts in the past two contests. Andres Gimenez will start at the hot corner for the Mets on Friday.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Day off Friday

Suarez is not in the lineup Friday against the Pirates.

Suarez started the first 19 games of the season, but he'll take a seat Friday after going 1-for-12 with six strikeouts over the past three games. Kyle Farmer will take over at third base for the Reds, while Josh VanMeter starts at the keystone.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Not ready for prime time

The Pirates have no immediate plans to recall Hayes, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Hayes missed all of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19 and is considered behind the team's other options at third base. Although the time has past when a recall would mean that the organization would lose a year of control with Hayes, general manager Ben Cherington said he has concerns about the third baseman's "game readiness."

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Big day at plate

Senzel went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI against the Pirates on Thursday.

Senzel connected for his second home run of the season, taking Trevor Williams deep in the fourth inning for a two-run homer. Two frames earlier, he delivered an RBI single to drive in the Reds' first run of the contest. Through 49 plate appearances, Senzel is hitting .262/.333/.524.
