Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Reds' Kyle Farmer: Retreats to bench
Farmer is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.
Farmer had started five of the past six games at either middle-infield spot, but he'll take a seat in the series opener while Josh VanMeter gets a look at the keystone. Regular second baseman Mike Moustakas (quadriceps) remains on the injured list and is without a clear timeline for a return, so Farmer should have the chance to see the bulk of the starts at the position so long as he performs reasonably well offensively.

Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Delivers three-run homer
McMahon went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and three strikeouts during Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
The 25-year-old crushed the three-run shot to left field Wednesday to give the Rockies a brief lead, but he still managed to whiff three times for the third straight game. McMahon is off to a tough start this season with a .220/.299/.390 slash line, two homers and 28 strikeouts through 67 plate appearances.

Brian Anderson RF | ATL
Marlins' Brian Anderson: Blasts three-run homer
Anderson went 1-for-6 with a three-run home run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Anderson took Nate Pearson deep in the first inning, getting the Marlins out to an early lead. He struggled the rest of the game, however, whiffing in four of his next five at-bats. That pushed his strikeout rate to 31 percent for the season, though Anderson has still managed to hit .286/.288/.619 with four home runs, eight runs scored and 13 RBI across 49 plate appearances.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Blasts two homers
Arenado went 3-for-5 with two homers, a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
The 29-year-old launched his fifth and sixth homers of the season Wednesday, which traveled 426 and 441 feet, respectively. Arenado entered the series against Arizona in an 0-for-13 skid, but he went 8-for-12 with three homers, two doubles and seven RBI across the three games.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Belts grand slam in victory
Machado went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.
Machado buried his former team with a bases-loaded blast to center field in the third inning following a pair of hits and two errors. The long ball was the third in the last three games for Machado, who now has five overall this season. After struggling early in the campaign, Machado has upped his slash line to .232/.321/.493 with the help of a four-game hitting streak.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Goes yard in win
Arenado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run scored and an intentional walk in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks.
Arenado went deep off Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen in the fourth inning. In the eighth, reliever Kevin Ginkel intentionally walked Arenado to get to Daniel Murphy. The Rockies' rally continued as Raimel Tapia plated Arenado and Murphy with a two-run double. The 29-year-old Arenado is batting .246 with four homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored in 16 games this season.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Phillies' Jean Segura: Knocks second homer
Segura went 1-for-4 with a walk, home run and two runs scored Tuesday against the Orioles.
Segura hit a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning, giving the Phillies a 6-5 lead. It was his second home run of the season, and second in as many games. Segura has yet to really get going at the plate, as he's hitting just .194/.341/.361 in 44 plate appearances this season. Still he's chipped in eight runs scored and a stolen base, so he has found ways to be productive.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Activity still limited
Moustakas (quadriceps) has yet to run or face live pitching as of Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Moustakas has been out for a week with a bruised quadriceps, though he previously hoped to be able to return Tuesday. He's since been placed on the injured list, as he's behind that more optimistic schedule, but he expects to be able to return when first eligible Sunday.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Collects four hits
Arenado went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 12-8 loss to Arizona.
Arenado was perfect at the dish, collecting four hits and an RBI sacrifice fly in his five plate appearances. The 29-year-old third baseman has struggled so far this season and Monday's performance was just his second multi-hit game of 2020. He's batting just .241 with four extra-base hits.
