Riley (knee) will not require surgery and hopes to begin playing in minor-league games in two weeks, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

This is excellent news, as he met with Dr. James Andrews earlier in the week to get a second opinion on his partially torn LCL, which is typically an ominous sign. It sounds like if everything goes smoothly, Riley will join the big-league roster at some point in September.

Newman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored to help the Pirates to a 10-2 victory over the Angels on Monday.

The 26-year-old checked in with his first long ball since July 6, touching up Jose Suarez with a second-inning solo shot. Newman hasn't provided much power this season (this was just his seventh homer in 329 at-bats) but he's emerged as a solid contributor in other categories, as he's hitting .304 with a respectable .347 on-base percentage, and has also chipped in with 10 stolen bases in 15 attempts.

Suarez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Sunday in the Reds' 6-3 loss to the Cubs.

Though teammate Aristides Aquino has attracted more attention in recent days for his feats as a power hitter, Suarez hasn't been too far behind the rookie's pace lately. Suarez -- who will bat third and start at the hot corner Monday against the Nationals -- will head into the series opener with four home runs in his last five games. with 33 long balls in total this season, Suarez is just one behind his career-best output from 2018 and currently ranks tied for fourth in the National League in the category.

Escobar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Dodgers.

Escobar extended a hitless streak to 15 at-bats before a sixth-inning single that preceded his solo shot in the eighth. It was Escobar's 26th home run in 2019. Since the All-Star break, he's knocked in 27 runs in 27 games, placing him among the leaders in RBI (94, second in MLB).

Longoria went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in a win over Philadelphia on Sunday.

Longoria got the Giants off to a quick start with a two-run single in the first inning, then singled and scored in both the third and eighth frames. The 33-year-old has five hits in his last seven at-bats, driving in four runs over the two-game stretch. On the season, he is slashing .249/.320/.449 with 14 homers and 43 RBI in 338 plate appearances.

Rendon went 4-for-5 with two runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Mets.

Rendon didn't improve on his 90 RBI or 58 extra-base hits, but the four-hit day bumped his slash line to .320/.404/.607 as he remains one of the most lethal batters of 2019. It was his first four-hit game since June of last season, and he's now 12-for-34 (.353) with seven runs scored in August.

Arenado is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres.

This is the first game he has missed since July 25. He is hitting .346 with four home runs in 14 straight starts. Ryan McMahon will start at third base and hit fifth.

Longoria went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Phillies.

Longoria was moved down to fifth in the order after going 0-for-5 in Friday's loss, but the veteran responded with his 14th long ball of the season. It was the 33-year-old's first homer since returning from the injured list Aug. 4, and he has gone 6-for-23 (.261) in six starts over that span.

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Padres.

His solo shot in the fourth inning extended his current hitting streak to a modest seven games, during which Arenado is slashing .417/.444/.917 with four homers and six RBI. The All-Star third baseman is having another impressive fantasy campaign, hitting .308 with 26 home runs, 87 RBI and 75 runs through 116 games.

Muncy went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Saturday's 4-0 win over Arizona.

Muncy took starter Alex Young deep in the second inning on a 428-foot blast that landed in the center field seats. He also came around to score on a Russell Martin single in the fourth inning after getting aboard with a walk. Muncy is hitting .260/.370/.519 with 28 homers, 76 RBI and 78 run scored in 114 games this season.
