Segura was a major part of the Diamondbacks' blowout victory against the Nationals on Monday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.

Segura has been a rare bright spot for the Diamondbacks all season, batting .317 with 19 home runs and 30 stolen bases for the season. The 26-year-old has set career highs in runs scored, home runs, RBI and batting average in his first season in the desert.

LeMahieu is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

It's not often one sees a healthy .349 hitter sit when they would have the platoon advantage, but LeMahieu hasn't had a day off in more than a month. Further, his 13-game hitting streak ended Friday and he's just 9-for-37 against Saturday's starter Clayton Kershaw. Patrick Valaika will get the nod at second base in LeMahieu's absence.

Arenado went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, two runs and a walk in the 11-1 victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

The homer moves him back into first place with 39 bombs in the National League, one ahead of Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant. Arenado also leads the NL with 128 RBI and nobody is even within 20 RBI of him. He is also hitting .294 with 111 runs and two stolen bases.

Asuaje's contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

He was named the Pacific Coast League's Rookie of the Year after leading all Triple-A players this season with 172 hits and being tied for first with teammate Manuel Margot with 98 runs scored. He hit .321/.378/.473 with nine home runs and 10 steals (in an extreme hitting environment), playing primarily second base while also seeing time at third base and left field. It remains to be seen if his slight 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame will allow him to barrel big league pitching, but given the Padres' lack of quality infield depth, he should get a chance to prove himself over the rest of the season and in the first half of 2017.

Asuaje will be called up from Triple-A El Paso, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Part of the Padres' return for Craig Kimbrel, he put together a fine season with El Paso, slashing .321/.378/.473 with nine homers, 10 steals and a 13.7 percent strikeout rate. However, Asuaje may play primarily off the bench over the final 11 games, and his modest power and speed put a cap on his upside long term despite the solid plate skills.

Segura went 3-for-6 with a double, a walk and two RBI in Sunday's 10-9 victory over the Dodgers.

Segura raised his NL-leading hit total to 189 with a pair of singles and his 38th double, capping the four-game set with his third straight multi-hit performance. The 26-year-old has caught fire over his past six games, batting .517 with five home runs and eight RBI. He's currently slashing .319/.365/.490 -- all career highs.

Rendon is not in the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.

Rendon has started the past nine games, so he'll head to the bench to get some rest. Wilmer Difo will take over for him at the hot corner for the day.

Peterson (ankle) is in the starting lineup Sunday against the Nationals, batting seventh and playing second base.

Peterson missed the past two games due to an ankle injury, but it seems the 26-year-old's ankle is good enough for him to play in the series finale. As long as his ankle stays healthy, he'll likely get plenty of innings at the keystone for the remainder of the season.

Segura went 2-for-4 with a solo homer -- his 17th of the season -- in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

Add another homer -- his fifth in his last five games -- to the 26-year-old shortstop's career-best total. Segura is the NL hit leader with 186, his superb average (.317) ranks fourth in the NL, while his 30 steals ties him for fourth in the NL.

Peterson (ankle) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Nationals.

Peterson was scratched from Friday's lineup with a sprained ankle, and the ailment will keep him out of action for at least one more day. Gordon Beckham will get the nod at second base Saturday, as was the case Friday night.
