  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Mets' Matt Reynolds: Optioned to Triple-A

Reynolds was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.

With the activation of Jose Reyes to play shortstop while Asdrubal Cabrera is on the DL, Reynolds was no longer needed to provide infield depth at the big league level. Reynolds posted a .211/.231/.382 slash line with two home runs and a 36.3-percent strikeout rate in 80 plate appearances with the Mets this season.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Smacks solo shot in Friday loss

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and walk in Friday's 10-6 loss to the Phillies.

The second baseman provided the second of back-to-back dingers in the ninth to close the Rockies' deficit to 10-6, which ended up being the final score. LeMahieu has now hit safely in four straight and is slashing .400/.529/.575 over 40 at-bats in August.

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Blasts two-run homer in Friday loss

Rendon went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Braves.

Braves' Jace Peterson: Launches solo shot in Friday win

Peterson went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs in an 8-5 victory over the Nationals on Friday.

He extended the Braves' lead to 2-0 in the second with a 398-foot solo shot, and later came home on Anthony Recker's blast in the sixth. It was Peterson's first round-tripper since July 22 versus and only his fourth hit in 26 at-bats in August.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

Phillies' Cody Asche: May not return in September

Phillies manager Pete Mackanin wouldn't commit to Asche returning to Philadelphia when rosters expand in September, Meghan Montemurro of the News-Journal reports.

The Phillies would like Asche to work between first and third base at Triple-A to increase his versatility and value to the team. The 26-year-old has seen his numbers decrease each of his last three seasons for the Phillies.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

Phillies' Cody Asche: Optioned to Triple-A

Asche was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

Asche will head to Lehigh Valley to make room for Peter Bourjos, as Bourjos returned from the disabled list Friday. Asche, who's hitting just .213/.281/.362 for the season, has posted a batting average of just .129 since the All-Star break.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Two doubles and two RBI in Wednesday's win

Rendon went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Indians.

He's become a doubles machine in August, with six of his 10 hits so far on the month being two-baggers, giving Rendon a .357/.441/.571 slash line through eight games with six RBI and five runs scored. He's had a reasonably productive season so far but it looks like Rendon's saved his best work for the stretch run.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Leads way with pair of doubles

Segura went 3-for-5 with a walk and a pair of doubles and runs scored in the Diamondbacks extra innings win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Segura had been just a bit cold of late, hitting just .254 over his previous 15 games entering Wednesday, but turned things around with the three-hit day. The solid night raised Segura's batting average to .311 on the year, and the doubles give him 41 extra-base hits, more than respectable for a leadoff hitter.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Peterson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.

Typically Peterson gets the nod against righties, but after notching just one hit in his last 15 at-bats he will take a seat Wednesday against righty Chase Anderson. Gordon Beckham will get the start at second base and hit seventh.
