Athletics' Zack Gelof: Struggles with abdominal soreness
Gelof was scratched from Oakland's lineup ahead of Wednesday's matchup against the Yankees due to left abdominal soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
The severity of the 24-year-old infielder's injury is still unknown, but the team could provide more information after the contest. Gelof had not missed a game with 24 straight starts at second base to begin the season, but that starting streak will end Wednesday. Third baseman Abraham Toro will take the field at the keystone in place of Gelof.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Added to lineup Wednesday
Toro is starting at second base and batting sixth for Wednesday's outing against the Yankees.
The switch-hitting infielder was originally left out of the starting nine for Wednesday's matchup, but he will take the field and make his first start at second base after Zack Gelof (abdomen) was scratched. Toro currently has a .232/.293/.377 slash line with two home runs, eight RBI and eight runs through 21 games.

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Late scratch Wednesday
Gelof was scratched from Oakland's lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Yankees, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
It's unclear why the A's took Gelof out of their lineup, but the team should offer some clarity soon. Abraham Toro will replace him at the keystone while batting sixth.

Miguel Sano 3B | LAA
Angels' Miguel Sano: Battling knee soreness
Sano was removed from Wednesday's game versus Baltimore due to left knee soreness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
It's unclear what exactly caused Sano's knee to start acting up on him, but he was replaced at third base prior to the sixth inning. More information on his knee may come after the game, but if his injury is minor, the Angels' off day Thursday could allow the 30-year-old infielder to return without missing any games.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa CF | BOS
Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Gets Wednesday off
Kiner-Falefa is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Kiner-Falefa will head to the bench Wednesday after reaching base four times while making a pair of starts at third base in the first two games of the series. Ernie Clement will spell Kiner-Falefa at the hot corner.

Tyler Wade SS | TEX
Padres' Tyler Wade: Won't start Wednesday
Wade is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup against the Rockies.
As a lefty-hitter, Wade will hand off the start to righty-hitting Eguy Rosario at third base as southpaw Ty Blach takes the mound. Wade has seen the majority of playing time at third base with 16 starts out of 26 games this season, due to Manny Machado being limited to serving as the designated hitter as he continues to recover from an offseason elbow injury.

Emmanuel Rivera 3B | BAL
Marlins' Emmanuel Rivera: Hits bench Wednesday
Rivera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
Rivera will head to the bench after he started in each of the past six games at either corner-infield spot while going 5-for-19 with an RBI and a run. Josh Bell will draw the start at first base, while Vidal Brujan covers third base in the series finale.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Sitting in second straight
Toro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
After he had started at designated hitter or third base in 14 consecutive contests, Toro has now hit the bench for the second day in a row. Tyler Nevin will draw another start at the hot corner and may have supplanted Toro as manager Mark Kotsay's preferred option at the position while the Athletics wait for J.D. Davis (adductor) to return from the injured list.

Trey Lipscomb 3B | WAS
Nationals' Trey Lipscomb: Will see playing time at first base
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday that Lipscomb will play a good amount of first base as Joey Gallo shifts to right field, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Gallo has been the team's regular first baseman, but he will receive reps in right field now with Lane Thomas (knee) sidelined indefinitely. Lipscomb will play multiple positions, per Martinez, but he is starting at first base Wednesday in Atlanta and could receive the lion's share of starts there for the time being. The 23-year-old posted a .563 OPS with one home run and four stolen bases over 14 games with the Nationals earlier this month.

Gabriel Arias SS | CLE
Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Sitting in second straight
Arias is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Arias made six consecutive starts from April 13 through 18, but he's now been back on the bench three times in the Guardians' ensuing five games. Though Arias is maintaining a respectable .781 OPS over 48 plate appearances on the season, he looks like he'll have to settle for a part-time role for now while Cleveland continues to stick with Brayan Rocchio as its primary shortstop.
