Tigers' Jose Iglesias out of lineup, but MRI clear
Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game with a sore knee. An MRI and X-ray showed no structural damage, and he's considered day-to-day, per MLive.
Andrew Romine replaces Iglesias at short.
The Tigers also gave catcher James McCann a rest. starting Bryan Holaday behind the plate.
J.D. Martinez moves to DH, replaced in right by Rajai Davis.

Indians activate Yan Gomes from disabled list
The Indians activated catcher Yan Gomes from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Gomes has been out with a knee injury. He'll make his return behind the plate on Sunday, for the first time since mid-April, batting seventh in the lineup.
To make room on the roster, the Indians designated Brett Hayes for assignment.

Three-hit effort sends streak of Royals C Salvador Perez to eight
Royals catcher Salvador Perez neither scored a run nor drove one in Friday night against St. Louis. But he had three hits, which is notable because it was his first three-hit game since April 28.
Not that Perez has been cold - quite the contrary. His effort against the Cardinals extended his hitting streak to eight. He is batting .400 during that stretch (10-for-25) with four doubles and a home run. He pushed his average over .300 for the first time in two weeks in the process.

Indians' Yan Gomes to return Sunday vs. Reds
With his Thursday rehab assignment game finished, Indians catcher Yan Gomes will return to his team for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Gomes went 2 for 4 in his rehab assignment Thursday night.
Gomes sprained his MCL in April and has been on the DL since. Gomes has gone a total of 5 for 13 during his rehab assignment.
"We just want to try and make a good decision," Indians manager Terry Francona said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Part of this is how important he is to us. I've said it before ... you want your catcher to be indispensable. That's probably the ultimate compliment to him. Then when they're not around, you find out that maybe they are."

Indians C Yan Gomes gets 2 hits in rehab assignment game
Indians catcher Yan Gomes went 2 for 4 in Thursday's rehab assignment game with Triple-A Columbus.
Columbus lost to Gwinnett 6-1, with Gomes picking up two singles. Gomes was able to play the entire game. This puts Gomes at 5 for 13 during his rehab assignment.
Gomes was placed on the disabled list with a right MCL sprain.

Tigers C James McCann launches walk-off home run Thursday
Tigers catcher James McCann played hero on Thursday, as he delivered a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning, as Detroit downed the Astros 6-5. The home run was his second of the season and his career.
"To be able to put a 'W' on the board, and be able to jog, is a lot nicer than having to sprint," McCann said, per MLB.com.
McCann has been getting the bulk of the playing time behind the plate with regular catcher Alex Avila on the disabled list.
McCann has been hitting well lately, as he's 9 for 25 over his last eight games.

Red Sox give young catcher Blake Swihart a breather Thursday
Red Sox catcher Blake Swihart will get a rest on Thursday against the Rangers, as he is being held out of the starting lineup. The rookie catcher has started each of the last four games, but he's starting to turn things around at the plate.
Swihart's been struggling offensively since his call-up on May 2, hitting just .170 on the year. But he has a hit in three of his last four games, so perhaps he is starting to adjust to Major League pitching.
Sandy Leon will spell Swihart behind the plate and bat ninth on Thursday.

Indians C Yan Gomes feels good after latest rehab assignment
Indians catcher Yan Gomes is feeling positive after going seven innings in a rehab assignment on Wednesday, according to Fox Sports.
"It was really good," said Gomes. "I felt good (back there) even in the seventh inning. It was a pretty positive day. There was no position I was getting myself into that was holding me back."
Gomes went 1 for 2 in three plate appearances, and in his four rehab games has gone 3 for 9 with a run scored.
Gomes is on the disabled list with a sprain in his right MCL.

Indians give struggling catcher Roberto Perez day off Wednesday
Indians catcher Roberto Perez is being held out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the White Sox. Perez had started four straight for manger Terry Francona, as he continues to struggle offensively. Perez is just 4 for his last 23 with zero RBI over that span.
Brett Hayes will draw the start behind the plate and bat eighth on Wednesday.

Angels C Chris Iannetta out of lineup on Wednesday vs. Blue Jays
Despite is recent hot hitting, Angels catcher Chris Iannetta finds himself on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. After getting off to a dreadful start, Iannetta has started to turn things around, as he is currently riding a modest four-game hitting streak. He is 8 for 15 with a home run and five RBI in that four-game span.
Nevertheless, Carlos Perez will draw the start behind the plate, spelling Iannetta.
