White Sox's Korey Lee: Resting Saturday

Lee is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Guardians.

Lee will begin Saturday's game in the dugout while Martin Maldonado gets the start at catcher and bats ninth against Cleveland right-hander Triston McKenzie. Lee went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored Friday, and the 25-year-old is 7-for-18 with two home runs and four RBI over five games in May.

  • Connor Wong C | BOS

Red Sox's Connor Wong: Getting breather Saturday

Wong is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Wong will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 2-for-4 while scoring Boston's lone run in Friday's loss. The lefty-hitting Reese McGuire will start at catcher and bat seventh against Washington right-hander Jake Irvin.

White Sox's Korey Lee: Keeps flashing power

Lee went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored Friday against the Guardians.

Lee took Carlos Carrasco deep in the seventh inning to tally his fourth home run of the season, three of which have come in his last 11 games. He's gone 11-for-33 in that span, also chipping in five RBI and four runs scored. Lee remains in a near even split for playing time with Martin Maldonado behind the plate.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Idle Friday

O'Hoppe isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday versus the Royals.

O'Hoppe will get a breather Friday after tallying six hits across his last three games. While he rests, Matt Thaiss will fill in as Los Angeles' backstop and bat sixth.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Not among starters

Naylor is not included in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the White Sox.

The lefty catcher will get some rest as the Guardians take on southpaw starter Garrett Crochet. Austin Hedges will take over at catcher and bat ninth in place of Naylor.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Out of lineup Friday

Wells is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.

The young backstop will not start against Tampa Bay while Jose Trevino catches and bats eighth. Wells has started four of the last seven matchups behind home plate for the Yankees, but it appears he and Trevino are in a near-even timeshare, as Wells has struggled to get the bat going with a slash line of .190/.321/.302 on the season.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

    Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Sitting again

Rortvedt is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Rortvedt will be out of the lineup for the second straight game, leaving catching duties to Alex Jackson.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Gets Thursday off

Lee isn't in the White Sox's lineup Thursday against the Guardians.

Lee will take a seat for the second game in a row Thursday despite recording a hit in three of his last four games. Martin Maldonado will start behind the plate instead and bat ninth.

  • Red Sox's Johanfran Garcia: Out for season with knee injury

Single-A Salem placed Garcia on its full-season injured list Wednesday after he was carted off the field in a May 1 game with a "significant knee injury" that will require surgery, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The knee injury is a big setback in the development of Garcia, a 19-year-old catching prospect. Garcia had gotten off to a hot start to the Carolina League season before suffering the injury, slashing .385/.467/.596 with two home runs and five RBI over 60 plate appearances.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Sitting in second straight

Trevino is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Astros.

The Yankees will go with Austin Wells at catcher for the second day in a row after Trevino had caught the previous three contests. The two have shared catching duties pretty close to down the middle this season, with Wells earning 21 starts to Trevino's 18.
