  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: On bench Saturday

Jansen will sit Saturday against the Tigers.

Jansen has swung the bat well since returning from a groin injury in mid-June, slashing .268/.305/.536 with four homers in 19 games. He'll rest Saturday with Alejandro Kirk starting behind the dish.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Out of lineup

Grandal will sit Saturday against St. Louis.

Grandal finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in six games. He's been in a slump recently, slasing .174/.255/.239 across his last 17 games. Seby Zavala will get the start behind the plate.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Gets Saturday off

Rogers will sit Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Rogers has been in good form recently, posting a .960 OPS with five homers in his last 20 games. That led to him starting nine of the last 12 games behind the plate heading into Saturday's contest, but it will be Eric Haase who gets the nod this time around.

  • Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Doing baseball activites

McGuire (oblique) began baseball activities July 6, MLB.com reports.

McGuire has been slow to recover from the oblique injury suffered while taking a swing June 21 against the Twins. These injuries typically take a minimum of two-to-three weeks to heal, but McGuire's will take longer.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Day off Friday

Rutschman is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Twins.

Rutschman will get a breather after he went 14-for-42 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and six runs scored while starting the last 10 games. James McCann will draw the start at catcher and bat eighth in the series opener with Minnesota.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Taking seat Friday

Naylor is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

It's a day off for Naylor, who is just 7-for-47 so far at the plate for the Guardians this season. Cam Gallagher will catch Aaron Civale.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

Astros' Korey Lee: Dealing with oblique strain

Lee was diagnosed with a right oblique strain Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Lee has yet to be placed on the injured list by Triple-A Sugar Land. The 24-year-old catcher sustained the injury Tuesday and has been sitting out since. Before straining his oblique, Lee was slashing .283/.328/.406 across 302 plate appearances for Sugar Land, though his numbers have been on the decline.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Leads catchers in RBI

Heim went 2-for-3 with a walk, double and two RBI in Thursday's 10-6 loss to the Red Sox.

Heim upped his RBI total to 58, tops among MLB catchers, over 77 games. That's 10 more runs driven than he had last season in 127 contests. Heim is showing no signs of wearing down as he did last season, but it should be noted it wasn't until August that his bat stopped producing.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Sitting Game 2

Grandal is not in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

Grandal went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the first game while playing behind the plate. He'll give way to Seby Zavala, who is hitting ninth in the order.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Sitting for night game

Kirk is not in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Kirk served as the catcher in the first game of the doubleheader, so it's no surprise that he'll get some rest. He's been in the lineup for five of seven games since being activated from the injured list June 29, though he's gone just 2-for-16 with no extra-base hits.
