Hedges went 2-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday in a loss to the Angels.

Cleveland managed only four hits in the contest, with Hedges notching half of them. He also produced the team's only run with a solo homer off Reid Detmers in the fifth inning. Hedges has struggled with a .163/.234/.302 slash line this season, though two of his seven hits have left the yard.

Stassi isn't starting Thursday against Cleveland, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Stassi went 2-for-6 with two runs, a walk and three strikeouts in his last two appearances, and he'll be out of the lineup for the third time in the last five games. Kurt Suzuki will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

The Rangers recalled Huff from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.

Huff will join the 28-man active roster as a replacement for Jonah Heim (personal), who was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move. While Heim is away from the Rangers for the next 1-to-3 days, Huff will serve as the top understudy to No. 1 catcher Mitch Garver.

Heim will be away from the Rangers for 1-to-3 days while he observes the birth of his child. The Rangers called up Sam Huff from Triple-A Round Rock to serve as the No. 2 backstop behind Mitch Garver while Heim is away from the team.

Sanchez (abdomen) isn't starting Thursday against the Tigers, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Manager Rocco Baldelli was hopeful Sanchez would be back in action Thursday, but the catcher is still feeling some slight discomfort in his abdomen. He remains day-to-day, while Ryan Jeffers will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Murphy isn't starting Thursday against the Rays.

Murphy should see an uptick in playing time behind the dish after Cal Raleigh was sent down Thursday, but he'll get a day off in the series finale against Tampa Bay. Luis Torrens will start at catcher and bat ninth.

Trevino is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles.

After starting behind the dish in four of the Yankees' last six games, Trevino will cede catching duties to Kyle Higashioka in the series finale. Trevino has supplied a modest .559 OPS on the season, but that's still good enough to give him the edge in playing time over Higashioka, who enters Thursday's game with a .293 OPS.

Bemboom will start at catcher and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

No. 1 backstop Robinson Chirinos started behind the plate in the previous three games, but he'll get Thursday off in what amounts to a routine maintenance day. Chirinos' absence paves the way for Bemboom to enter the lineup for the seventh time this season. The 32-year-old has gone 3-for-20 with a double and three walks on the campaign.

The Mariners optioned Raleigh to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.

Though Raleigh received the start behind the dish Opening Day, he's essentially been part of a three-way timeshare at catcher with Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens throughout the season. He didn't make consecutive starts over any of the Mariners' first 18 contests of the season, appearing in nine games in total while going 2-for-24 with a 32.1 percent strikeout rate. Raleigh should receive more consistent playing time at Tacoma, while his demotion clears the way for both Murphy and Torrens to take on larger roles behind the plate at the big-league level.

Jeffers went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI during Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Tigers.

Jeffers extended the Twins' lead to 4-0 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth. He added an RBI double in the seven, marking his second multi-hit game and his first multi-RBI outing of the season. The backup catcher is currently slashing .214/.298/.726.
