  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Pops two-run homer

Jansen went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in an 11-10 win over Baltimore in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The catcher went yard in the fourth inning for his third homer in seven games since he returned from a hamstring strain. He's gone 7-for-19 (.368) in that span. Jansen is up to eight long balls, 15 RBI, 21 runs scored and eight doubles through 163 plate appearances this year.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Hits game-winning homer

Heim went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and two RBI in Saturday's 8-6 win over the Athletics. He also drew a walk.

Heim smoked a double off Cole Irvin before bashing a game-winning two-run homer off Andrew Chafin in the eighth inning. The long ball is Heim's first since Aug. 1 and can perhaps put some juice back in the catcher's bat. His average has slid from .227 to .200 since the start of August.

  • Tom Murphy C | SF

Mariners' Tom Murphy: Blasts pair of homers in win

Murphy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a two-run blast in a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

The veteran backstop took Madison Bumgarner deep in the second and sixth innings for his 10th and 11th round trippers of the season. Murphy's second blast, a 382-foot laser to left field in the sixth inning, proved to be the difference in the contest when the Diamondbacks' Seth Beer slugged a pinch-hit solo homer in the eighth inning. Murphy now has a pair of two-hit efforts in the last four games and has driven in six runs over his last five contests overall.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Out of Saturday's lineup

Sanchez is not in Saturday's lineup against the Mets.

Kyle Higashioka will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Sitting for Game 1

Kirk is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles.

Danny Jansen will start at catcher and bat ninth in the matinee. Look for Kirk to be back in the mix for the nightcap.

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

Orioles' Austin Wynns: Notches rare steal

Wynns went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 6-3 win over Toronto.

The last time the catcher stole a base was in 2017 with Double-A Bowie, so it's not like he's a significant speed threat. Wynns hasn't been able to do much with the bat at the major-league level this year, posting a .178/.235/.271 slash line with two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored in 116 plate appearances. He's gotten on base in five straight games, going 3-for-15 with three walks in that span, but he'll remain in a backup role to primary catcher Pedro Severino.

  • Eric Haase C | SF

Tigers' Eric Haase: Blasts homer in win

Haase went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Friday's 10-4 win over Tampa Bay.

The catcher tied the game at 1-1 with his fifth-inning blast. Haase has hit safely in nine of his last 12 games, but he hasn't recorded a multi-hit effort in that span. The 28-year-old is batting .235/.289/.491 with 21 homers, 55 RBI, 44 runs scored, two stolen bases and 10 doubles through 318 plate appearances.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Athletics' Yan Gomes: Remains on bench

Gomes isn't starting Friday's game against the Rangers, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Gomes went 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI across his last two appearances but will be out of the lineup for a second straight game. Sean Murphy will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

Rangers' Jonah Heim: Not starting Friday

Heim isn't starting Friday's game against the Athletics.

Heim has gone 0-for-16 with an RBI, a walk and four strikeouts across his last four appearances, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight game. Jose Trevino will start at catcher and bat seventh.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: On bench Friday

Stassi isn't starting Friday's game against the Astros, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Stassi went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to San Diego and will be on the bench for the second time in the last three games. Kurt Suzuki will start behind the plate and bat seventh.
