Mitch Garver DH | SEA
Twins' Mitch Garver: Fourth straight start
Garver will start at catcher and bat leadoff Wednesday against the Brewers.
Garver will stick atop the lineup with the Brewers bringing a lefty (Gio Gonzalez) to the hill, but the backstop may have supplanted Jason Castro as the Twins' preferred catcher versus right-handed pitching, too. Manager Rocco Baldelli deployed Garver behind the plate in each of the Twins' prior three matchups with righties, during which the 28-year-old went 2-for-12 with a home run and a double.

Tom Murphy C | SF
Mariners' Tom Murphy: Hits two home runs
Murphy went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and a walk in Tuesday's 11-6 win over the Tigers.
Murphy went deep during the fourth and sixth innings to deliver his second multi-homer performance of the season. The 28-year-old is putting together a quality offensive season -- especially for a reserve catcher -- with a .273/.304/.541 slash line and 12 home runs in 50 games.

Jake Rogers C | DET
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Pops fourth home run
Rogers went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 11-6 loss to the Mariners.
Rogers is batting just .194 through his first 11 MLB games, but he does have a solid .854 OPS, thanks in large part to the four home runs and seven walks he's picked up. The 24-year-old is Detroit's catcher of the future, and with the Tigers now sitting at 35-81, he should continue to receive ample playing time the rest of the way as the team turns its attention to next season.

Travis d'Arnaud C | LAA
Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Sitting Tuesday
D'Arnaud isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.
D'Arnaud is 0-for-16 over his last four games, so he'll head to the bench to regroup Tuesday evening. Mike Zunino gets the call behind the plate and will bat eighth in D'Arnaud's place.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Mariners' Omar Narvaez: Catches breather
Narvaez isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Detroit, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Despite benefitting from a team off day Monday, Narvaez will bow out of the starting nine for the series opener, giving him another day to rest. Tom Murphy will handle the catching duties and bat seventh with Narvaez out of the mix.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Bows out of starting nine
Jansen isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Jansen is in line for a night off after going 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's series opener. Reese McGuire will handle the catching duties and hit ninth with Jansen out of the mix.
-
Christian Vazquez C | HOU
Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: Gets night off
Vazquez isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Indians.
Vazquez will take a seat after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Monday's series opener. Sandy Leon is set to handle the catching duties and will bat eighth in Vazquez's absence.
-
James McCann C | ARI
White Sox's James McCann: Resting for front end of twin bill
McCann is out of the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Astros.
Welington Castillo will receive the nod behind the plate for the first game of the twin bill, but expect McCann to catch for Ivan Nova in the nightcap.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Slugs 11th homer
Jansen went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored in Monday's win over the Rangers.
His eighth-inning blast was the cherry on top of a 19-run sundae by the Jays offense. Jansen has now gone yard twice in his last three starts and three times in seven August contests, giving the catcher a solid 11 homers and 40 RBI through 90 games this season.
