  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Goes yard in win

Bailey went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Reds.

Bailey's hit safely in four straight games, and he has an extra-base hit in each of his last three contests. The catcher is batting .268 (19-for-71) in August, but he's hit just two homers over 23 games this month. The rookie is at a .260/.311/.411 slash line, seven long balls, 45 RBI, 25 runs scored and a stolen base through 78 contests overall while providing strong defense behind the plate.

  • Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Powers up in win

Contreras went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three total RBI and a third run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 victory over the Padres.

Contreras cut the Cardinals' deficit to 4-3 with a solo blast off Seth Lugo in the sixth inning before tying the game in the eighth with a two-run shot off Robert Suarez. The 31-year-old Contreras had gone 13 games without a home run prior to Tuesday's contest, batting just .186 (8-for-43) in that span. Overall, he's slashing .253/.348/.436 with 15 home runs, 54 RBI, 46 runs scored and six stolen bases through 442 at-bats this season.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Padres' Gary Sanchez: Out of lineup Tuesday

Sanchez is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Luis Campusano will start at catcher and bat seventh for the visiting Padres. Manny Machado is taking a turn as the DH and hitting third. Sanchez went 1-for-5 with a double in Monday's series opener in St. Louis and is slashing .216/.289/.500 with 18 homers and 44 RBI through 66 games for San Diego.

  • Nick Fortes C | TB

Marlins' Nick Fortes: Sitting again Tuesday

Fortes is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Jacob Stallings will make a third straight start at catcher after going 3-for-5 with two doubles across the final two games of the Marlins' three-game weekend series versus the Nationals. Fortes holds a rough .213/.262/.301 batting line through 269 plate appearances this year.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Busts slump with three doubles

Murphy went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two runs and an RBI against Colorado in a 14-4 win Monday.

Murphy came into the contest with just one multi-hit game and a .160 batting average since the All-Star break, but he found his stroke in the friendly confines of Coors Field. The veteran catcher hadn't hit a double in 21 games coming into the contest before clubbing three of them Monday. Atlanta has two more games in Colorado before heading west to face the Dodgers, giving Murphy an opportunity to further feast in the elevation as he attempts to turn his second-half struggles around.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Clubs homer in loss

Moreno went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an RBI double in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Moreno put up his sixth multi-hit effort in his last eight games, a span in which he's batting .419 (13-for-31) with two homers and 10 RBI. The catcher's strong stretch has him up to a .286/.328/.414 slash line with six homers, 40 RBI, 26 runs scored, four stolen bases and 14 doubles over 86 contests this season. He continues to see the bulk of the playing time behind the dish, relegating Jose Herrera to backup duties.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Takes seat Monday

Stephenson is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.

Stephenson posted a .988 OPS over his last 10 games, but he has not started three days in a row behind the plate all season, so it comes as no surprise that he is getting a breather after opening at catcher the past two days.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Retreats to bench

Adams is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

While Keibert Ruiz had experienced some lightheadness, Adams started at catcher in each of the last four games, going 1-for-15 with nine strikeouts. Even though the Nationals called up Drew Millas from Triple-A Rochester on Monday to provide extra insurance behind the dish, Ruiz has been cleared to resume catching duties and will step in as Washington's starting backstop in the series opener in Toronto. Adams is expected to see his playing time take a hit moving forward.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Back in action Monday

Ruiz (head) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Though the Nationals called up Drew Millas from Triple-A Rochester to give the team a third catcher on the 26-man active roster, Ruiz will be able to resume duties behind the dish Monday after not starting in either of the past two contests and not catching at all in the previous four contests. Riley Adams will head back to the bench after serving as the Nationals' starting catcher each of the past four games while Ruiz experienced a bout of lightheadness after taking a foul tip to his catcher's mask last Wednesday.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mets' Omar Narvaez: Gets starting nod in series opener

Narvaez will start at catcher and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Rangers, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Narvaez will pick up his second start in three games while No. 1 backstop Francisco Alvarez rests. The Mets have suggested that the 22-year-old Alvarez could have his catching workload managed down the stretch, so Narvaez could end up moving into more a timeshare behind the plate in September rather than serving as a clear No. 2 option. Narvaez is slashing .205/.294/.341 with one home run, three RBI and four runs in 16 games since the All-Star break.
