  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Parked on bench

Barnhart is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.

Barnhart gets the day off and will be replaced by Tony Cruz, who's slated to bat eighth. The 27-year-old backstop is hitting .266 with three home runs and 14 RBI through 42 games this season.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Heads to bench Wednesday

Grandal is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Grandal will get a breather for the series finale after starting the previous five games behind the dish. Austin Barnes is starting at catcher and hitting second in his stead Wednesday.

  • Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Back in action Wednesday

Mesoraco (elbow) is back in the lineup Wednesday against Miami, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Mesoraco did not start Tuesday after suffering a bruised elbow, but he was available off the bench. The injury was a minor one, as expected, as he's already back in the lineup.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Three hits in Tuesday's win

Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Mets.

It's his third three-hit performance in his last 10 games. Realmuto now sports a .286/.342/.471 slash line through 18 games in May with two homers, seven RBI and eight runs, and he should remain a fixture near the top of a Marlins batting order that otherwise lacks consistent run producers.

  • Mets' Kevin Plawecki: Headed for rehab assignment

Plawecki (hand) will begin a rehab stint Wednesday with Triple-A Las Vegas, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Plawecki has been dealing with a non-displaced hairline fracture in his left hand, but he's making progress. The length of his rehab assignment figures to be determined by how his non-throwing hand responds. Once healthy, Plawecki is slated to become the primary starter behind the dish.

  • Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Out of lineup but available off bench

Mesoraco (elbow) is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins but is available off the bench, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Mesoraco exited Monday's game after getting hit in the elbow by a backswing. Fortunately, X-rays confirmed the backstop is simply dealing with a bruise and shouldn't miss much time as a result. Tomas Nido will start behind the dish in his stead Tuesday.

  • Mets' Devin Mesoraco: X-rays come back negative

Mesoraco underwent X-rays on his left elbow following the conclusion of Monday night's game against the Marlins, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record report.

Mesoraco appeared to suffer a bruise after a backswing hit his left elbow during Monday's matchup. He received X-rays to ensure no further damage occurred, and the results came back negative, although he does have swelling in his elbow. Mesoraco will be listed as day-to-day moving forward.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Embarking on rehab stint

Hedges (elbow) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Hedges has been sidelined for all of May with right elbow tendinitis. After appearing in games at extended spring training for the past week, the backstop has been cleared to embark on a rehab stint, marking the last step in his recovery before he rejoins the Padres. It's unclear how many minor-league games Hedges will need to appear in before his activation. Raffy Lopez and A.J. Ellis will continue to share catching duties until Hedges is healthy.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Goes deep Sunday

Grandal went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Nationals.

Grandal blasted his eighth home run of the season in the second inning, this one coming off right-hander Stephen Strasburg. He has cooled down since a fast start to the season in April but has three home runs in his past six games. Overall, he has a .511 slugging percentage in 137 at-bats this season, an impressive mark relative to most other catchers.

  • Mets' Devin Mesoraco: Continues to swing hot bat

Mesoraco went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Mesoraco continued to make quite the impression on his new club, as he has now hit three home runs in his first six games as a Met. Saturday's was a game-tying two run-run shot off Archie Bradley. This hot stretch will likely be the best we see of Mesoraco this season, but he has taken advantage of the opportunity to start on a regular basis.
