  • Royals' Cam Gallagher: Heads to IL

Gallagher was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Gallagher will miss at least the next seven days after taking two foul tips off his mask during Sunday's contest. Sebastian Rivero was recalled to take Gallagher's spot.

  • Pirates' Jacob Stallings: Day off Monday

Stallings is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Stallings sits for the second time in the last three games, though he's still the clear starter behind the plate for the Pirates, starting 20 of the team's 28 games thus far. Michael Perez will get the nod in his absence.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Mets' James McCann: Day off Monday

McCann will sit Monday against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McCann has handled a very heavy workload behind the plate this season. He'll find himself on the bench for just the fourth time in 23 games Monday. Tomas Nido starts in his absence.

  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: On bench Monday

Stassi will sit Monday against the Rays.

Stassi started three of the Angels' last four games after returning from a thumb injury Wednesday. Kurt Suzuki starts behind the plate Monday.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Expected to miss significant time

Kirk (hip) is expected to miss significant time due to his injury, Ben Wagner of Sportsnet reports.

Kirk was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hip flexor strain Sunday, and he's expected to miss at least six weeks. Riley Adams was recalled by the Blue Jays on Sunday and should serve as the No. 2 option at catcher behind Danny Jansen.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Returns to lineup

Perez (finger) is starting Monday's game against the Royals.

Perez had been out of the lineup in each of the last two games, and manager Terry Francona announced Sunday that the catcher has a non-displaced fracture in his right ring finger. However, Perez is expected to play through the injury going forward, and he'll start behind the plate and bat eighth Monday.

  • Cubs' Willson Contreras: Back in lineup

Contreras (thigh) will return to the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers, catching and batting fifth.

Contreras sat for two straight games with a minor thigh issue, though he did appear off the bench Sunday. He'll be involved from the start this time around and will look to build on his .238/.333/.512 slash line.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Not starting Monday

Garver isn't starting Monday's game against the Rangers.

Garver went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Sunday's win over the Royals. Ben Rortvedt will take over behind the dish and bat ninth.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Takes part in home-run parade

Barnhart went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs Sunday in the Reds' 13-12 win over the Cubs in 10 innings.

Barnhart's long ball was his third of the season and one of five on the day for the Reds. Cincinnati values Barnhart mainly for his skills as a game caller, but he's been a surprising contributor to what has been one of the majors' most potent lineups through the first month of the season. The 31-year-old is holding down a .918 OPS, 168 points better than his next-best mark (in 2017) for any season of his career.

  • Pirates' Christian Bethancourt: Joins Pirates organization

Bethancourt signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Monday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The 29-year-old catcher is expected to report to the Pirates' affiliate in Indianapolis ahead of the start of the Triple-A season this week. Once a highly-touted prospect while coming up in the Atlanta organization, Bethancourt owns a meager .222/.252/.316 slash line over 489 career plate appearances in the majors. He last appeared in the big leagues in 2017 with the Padres.
