Stubbs was optioned to the alternate training site Wednesday and will remain with the team on the taxi squad, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 27-year-old earned a spot on the Opening Day roster, but he'll be removed from the active roster with Josh James (hip) returning from the injured list. Stubbs went 1-for-8 with one run and one RBI in 14 appearances this season.

Stassi is not in the lineup Wednesday at Texas, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Stassi started the past two games after returning from the injured list over the weekend, and he'll receive the day off Wednesday. Anthony Bemboom takes over behind the plate for the Angels.

Caratini will start at catcher and will bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Chicago has largely been splitting catching and designated-hitter duties with Willson Contreras and Caratini this season, but the latter looked like he was on track to get squeezed out of DH opportunities after the Cubs acquired Jose Martinez on Aug. 30. However, after going hitless in his first 14 at-bats with Chicago, Martinez was optioned to the Cubs' alternate site Tuesday, which seemingly leaves Caratini in line to pick up more regular work. Caratini's lack of power and speed limits his overall fantasy upside, but he boasts decent enough contact skills to provide a non-toxic batting average from the second catcher spot in leagues that start two backstops.

Jansen will not start Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

The young backstop is hitting just .149/.292/.310 on the season, though he's maintained a regular role, as he'd started six of the last eight games behind the plate heading into Wednesday's contest. Caleb Joseph gets the nod in his absence.

The Red Sox optioned Grullon to their alternate training site Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

As anticipated, Grullon's stint with Boston lasted only one day after the Red Sox designated him as their 29th man for the doubleheader with his former team, the Phillies. Grullon started behind the plate in the second game (a 5-2 Boston win), going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Narvaez is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers.

With southpaw Matthew Boyd on the hill, Narvaez will retreat to the bench. Jacob Nottingham will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

Nola went 1-for-4 with a home run, another run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.

He was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning and then hit a three-run blast in the second inning to help San Diego score 10 runs in the first two frames alone. Nola now has two home runs and five RBI over his last two games.

Grandal went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Pirates.

Grandal took Dovydas Neverauskas yard in the fifth inning for his sixth homer of the season. He now has at least one hit in seven of last eight contests, collecting two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored in that span. Overall, Grandal is hitting .257/.372/.460 with 18 runs scored and 20 RBI across 137 plate appearances.

Maldonado is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Maldonado went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during the matinee and will take a seat for the nightcap. Dustin Garneau will start behind the plate for Houston in Game 2.

Murphy is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Astros.

Murphy went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout during Game 1, and he won't be starting both games of the doubleheader. Jonah Heim will take over behind the plate in Game 2.
