Realmuto is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.

After catching the first two games of the series, Realmuto will take a seat Sunday in favor of Jeff Mathis behind the plate.

Manager Ned Yost said Sunday that Perez would miss the next 7-to-10 days with a quad contusion, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.

After suffering the injury during a collision with teammate Cheslor Cuthbert in Saturday's come-from-behind win over the White Sox, Perez underwent a precautionary MRI, which cleared the catcher of any structural damage to his knee. While Perez looks on track to miss at least a week's worth of games, the Royals don't believe that he'll need to miss a full 15 days, so a DL stint doesn't appear to be in the offing. The Royals did recall Tony Cruz from Triple-A Omaha to provide some catching depth behind Drew Butera, who will start behind the plate Sunday, while Perez is sidelined.

Gomes went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a strikeout against the Orioles on Saturday.

The Brazilian backstop is a bit below his career averages this season, but he's been pretty productive of late with hits in eight of the last 10 games. He's only hit .250 over that span, but six of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases so his power remains intact.

Perez was diagnosed with a quadriceps contusion and will undergo a precautionary MRI later Saturday, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio reports.

Perez was involved in a scary collision with Chelsor Cuthbert in foul territory Saturday and had to be helped off the field. Fortunately, the Royals believe that Perez avoided any structural damage and only suffered a contusion in his quadriceps. However, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports that Perez's injury could result in a DL stint. Regardless, Drew Butera figures to take over catching duties while Perez is sidelined.

Perez exited Saturday's game in the ninth inning with an apparent leg injury, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.

Perez was injured Saturday when an apparent miscommunication on a foul ball resulted in third baseman Chelsor Cuthbert colliding with his knee. He was helped off the field by manager Ned Yost and team trainer Nick Kenney, according to Dodd. There is no official word on the nature and extent of Perez's injury, but the immediate worry is that it could be a knee injury. Further information on Perez's status figures to be made available following Saturday's game.

Casali is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Casali will earn the day off after starting five of the last six games for the Rays behind the plate. Hank Conger will take his place and bat ninth against Masahiro Tanaka. During the past ten games, Casali is just 3-for-29 from the dish, and is batting .165/.221/.361 on the season with 41 strikeouts in just 34 games. Even though Casali is struggling at the plate, Conger isn't fairing much better and his defensive shortcomings allow Casali to remain the Rays' starter.

Barnhart is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers.

Barnhart will get the day off as Ramon Cabrera will man the catching duties and bat eighth for the Reds on Friday. Throughout the 2016 season, Barnhart has been reliable filling in for Devin Mesoraco (season-ending shoulder injury) batting .234/.274/.336, but has not brought any pop to the lineup with only one home run and eight RBI during 107 at-bats.

Gomes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

Chris Gimenez will take his place behind the plate while batting eighth in the lineup for Friday's game. Gomes is hitting just .177/.216/.377 in 2016, but he has been finding his stride and hitting better in the past couple weeks.

Rupp is out of the lineup Friday, the News Journal's Meghan Montemurro reports.

He will give way to Carlos Ruiz behind the plate Friday after starting five of the last seven games. Considering how much of a wasteland the catcher position is, Rupp has been pretty serviceable in the early going on the strength of his .282 average alone, but that mark is slated for heavy regression (.370 BABIP, career .306 BABIP) going forward, and he'll soon be waiver wire fodder in most one-catcher formats.

Murphy, 25, is batting .286 with three home runs and 11 RBI over his last 10 games for Triple-A Albuquerque.

Muprhy has been a tad injury prone throughout his professional career, but looks healthy now and has been tapping into his power lately. He has multiple seasons with 20 home runs in the minors, and could be close to seeing the bigs.
