  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Braves' Sean Murphy: Goes yard again on rehab stint

Murphy (oblique) went 2-for-6 with a double, a home run and two RBI for Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

The rehabbing catcher got the start at designated hitter and launched a solo shot off Valente Bellozo in the fourth inning, Murphy's second home run in two games for Gwinnett. Atlanta may want to make sure he's ready for regular defensive duties before activating him from the IL, but based on how he's looked at the plate, the 29-year-old should be back with the major-league team at some point this weekend.

  • Braves' Chadwick Tromp: Two hits in Thursday's win

Tromp went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

The 29-year-old backstop has seen his playing time pick up lately due in part to a concussion scare for Travis d'Arnaud, and Tromp has responded by going 6-for-13 with three doubles and two runs scored while appearing in four of the last seven games. His time in the majors figures to be coming to a close, however -- Sean Murphy (oblique) has homered in back-to-back games to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett and could come off the IL as soon as this weekend.

  • Kyle McCann C | COL

Athletics' Kyle McCann: Gets aboard five times

McCann went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two walks and one run scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

McCann had gone just 3-for-18 over his previous eight contests before a breakout game Thursday. The backup catcher has generally played well in 2024, posting a .340/.431/.580 slash line over 58 plate appearances. He's added three home runs, three doubles, eight RBI and nine runs scored, but the 26-year-old remains firmly behind Shea Langeliers on the depth chart.

  • Joey Bart C | PIT

Pirates' Joey Bart: Launches grand slam Thursday

Bart went 2-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Giants.

Bart made quite an impression on his former team, launching a 434-foot grand slam off Mason Black in the fourth inning to put the Pirates ahead 5-1. The 27-year-old Bart's been hot of late, going 9-for-23 (.391) with three extra-base hits in his last seven games on the heels of an 0-for-14 stretch. Overall, he's slashing .267/.362/.517 with four homers, 12 RBI and seven runs scored across 21 games. With Yasmani Grandal nursing a groin injury, Bart could be in line for a regular starting role in the short term.

  • Jose Trevino C | CIN

Yankees' Jose Trevino: Pulled due to illness

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Trevino was removed from Thursday's game versus the Mariners due to illness, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Trevino was lifted in favor of pinch hitter Austin Wells in the bottom of the eighth inning after going 1-for-3 with a single in his first three plate appearances. Boone expects Trevino to be fine to travel with the team for its road trip beginning this weekend, so consider the catcher day-to-day.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

    Tigers' Jake Rogers: Sitting Thursday

Rogers isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

The Tigers seem content alternating between Rogers and Carson Kelly behind the plate, and Thursday will mark Kelly's turn to start while batting ninth.

  • Elias Diaz C | KC

    Rockies' Elias Diaz: Resting Thursday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Diaz will be joined on the bench by Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant and Brendan Rodgers as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. Jacob Stallings will fill in behind the plate in place of Diaz, who went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 win.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Getting rest Thursday

Amaya is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Amaya will receive a breather as Chicago and Atlanta wrap up their series with a day game after a night game. Yan Gomes will check in behind the dish to replace Amaya, who had started at catcher in five of the Cubs' previous six games.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Day off Thursday

Langeliers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Rockies.

Langeliers will get a breather for the day game after catching both of the first two games of the series. Kyle McCann will be behind the dish for the Athletics on Thursday.

  • Braves' Travis d'Arnaud: Not in Thursday's lineup

D'Arnaud is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

He started the first two contest of the series, but with Thursday's finale being a day game, d'Arnaud will get a breather. Atlanta will go with Chadwick Tromp as its catcher for starting pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver.
