Tigers fans and Fantasy owners everywhere can rejoice -- Tigers starting third baseman Miguel Cabrera is in the starting lineup. Cabrera made it into the lineup Wednesday against the Blue Jays after leaving Tuesday's game due to back stiffness. 

Cabrera, who has started every game this season, has hit safely in 16 of his last 17 games. He's batting .424 (28 for 66) with five doubles, eight home runs, 13 runs and 16 RBI in that span.

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera said after leaving Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays with back stiffness he's hopeful he will be in the lineup Wednesday.

"Hopefully it's not a big deal and I can come [Wednesday], get treatment and get ready to play," Cabrera said, per MLB.com.

Cabrera said he felt tightness in his back prior to the game, but his diving attempt on Emilio Bonifacio's first-inning double exacerbated the injury.

"I dove on my side and felt a little something," he said. "I was tight, too, in batting practice. It was still sore in the game."

Tigers manager Jim Leyland might choose to be cautious with Cabrera and rest his star slugger Wednesday.

"He said no rest [Wednesday], he'll be ready," Leyland said, "but I'm going to play that one by ear."

He had pain in his lower left back and also has had some issues with his left hip in the past. That said, it is not expected to be serious. Cabrera is day to day. In fact, he tweaked his back in the first inning and homered in the second.

He finished 1 for 3 with two walks. Cabrera is batting .368 on the season and is leading the majors in hitting. He has 85 RBI to lead the league. 

Mariners rookie infielder Brad Miller collected the first hits of his MLB career Sunday against the Cubs. Miller's first hit was a double off Edwin Jackson leading off the fifth inning and chased Jackson from the game in the seventh with his second double.

"It was a little weight lifted there because I wanted to get in the swing of things and help out," Miller said.

Miller also recorded his first run. He's batting .182 (2 for 11) with one RBI, two walks, three strikeouts and two stolen bases in three games since his promotion from the minors.

"It's been fun -- everything has been awesome," Miller said. "I'm just trying to get my feet wet and get comfortable and go out and play."

Mariners shortstop Brad Miller batted ninth Friday in his major-league debut against the Cubs, and he made a bit of an impact. Miller was hitless in three at-bats, however, he walked and added an RBI groundout in a 5-4 win in 10 innings. 

Astros outfielder J.D. Martinez snapped out of a slump Friday, with a 3-for-4 day against the Angels.

Martinez, who had gone 11 straight games without posting multiple hits, had two singles and a double in a 4-2 loss, raising his average to .251.

Martinez is batting just .212 in the month of June, and he has multiple hits just twice in 23 games. 

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera had another monster night at the plate as he went deep twice and recorded four hits during Friday's contest against the Rays.

Cabrera hit a two-run home run in the opening frame off Alex Colome to extend his hitting streak to a season-high 13 games. He then launched a solo shot off the rookie to extend the lead in the fourth inning. He finished 4 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBI in a 6-3 win.

It was Cabrera's 19th multi-home run game since joining the Tigers in 2008. He has gone 25 for 51 during his hitting streak. He leads the majors in batting average (.377) and RBI (81). The 30-year-old has 24 home runs and is four behind Chris Davis for tops in the majors.

Though I've always thought <player idref= was one of the more underrated prospects in baseball and have made the extra effort to acquire him in dynasty leagues, I don't know that he's the type of prospect you should rush to add off the waiver wire in standard mixed leagues (like Anthony Rendon or Nick Franklin) even now that he's the starting shortstop for the Mariners.

He's not as good as his minor-league numbers would suggest, having benefited from some extremely hitter-friendly environments, but he's one of those scrappy types who tend to get the most out of their tools. Ultimately, I think he has the potential to be another Matt Carpenter (another overlooked prospect), but as he works his way up to that level, I expect his moderate power and speed to make him somewhat fringy.

I rank him 19th among shorstops with the potential to move up. If you've been plodding along with a Brandon Crawford or Zack Cozart type, you should take a flier on Miller's upside, but otherwise, you can wait and see.

Our Scott White said on Friday’s broadcast of Fantasy Baseball Today that he’s not sure Miller is worth rushing out to pick up unless you need a short stop. White added that he still sees potential, as he and Nando Di fino went down a list of infielders who they would or wouldn’t drop for Miller.
