  • Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Idle Tuesday

McCutchen isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

McCutchen will get a day to clear his head Tuesday after going 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts over his last four contests. His absence will allow Bryan Reynolds to serve as the DH, opening a spot in right field for Jack Suwinski.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Idle Tuesday

Flores isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Flores will receive a day off Tuesday after going 1-for-3 with a strikeout during Monday's series opener. While he rests, Dominic Smith will get the starting nod at first base and bat eighth.

  • Ivan Herrera C | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Rehab games coming this week

Herrera (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday or Friday and expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list upon resumption of play after the All-Star break, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Coming back from a strained left hamstring, Herrera ran the bases at full speed over the weekend and is able to do all other baseball activities. He will presumably remain on his rehab assignment with Memphis through early next week before returning to the Cardinals' active roster coming out of the All-Star break. Herrera was operating as the team's primary designated hitter before getting hurt, and he will be an everyday player between DH and catcher, once activated.

  • Starling Marte DH | NYM

Mets' Starling Marte: Lands on injured list

The Mets placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 7, due to a right knee bruise.

The veteran outfielder has been playing through the injury for a while, but the issue flared up after he started in the outfield Sunday for the fifth time all season. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte is expected to be back shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Mets' Jesse Winker: Returns from injured list

The Mets activated Winker (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Winker was shelved for more than two months with a right oblique strain but is ready to roll after going 4-for-14 with a couple homers during a brief rehab assignment. The 31-year-old should be the Mets' primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching, especially with Starling Marte (knee) landing on the 10-day injured list.

  • Brewers' Christian Yelich: Salvages day with late homer

Yelich went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-1 win over the Dodgers.

Yelich went hitless with two strikeouts in his first three at-bats before delivering a two-run shot off Julian Fernandez in the seventh inning. The round tripper extended Yelich's on-base streak to 19 games. During that stretch, he's 27-for-76 (.355) with five homers and three stolen bases.

  • Marlins' Agustin Ramirez: Cracks homer, double in win

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Reds.

Ramirez extended Miami's lead to 5-1 with a 420-foot solo shot off Cincinnati reliever Brent Suter in the seventh inning. The rookie backstop previously notched his 16th double of the season off starter Brady Singer. Ramirez has been a solid performer through his first 65 big-league games, slashing .245/.291/.479 with 14 homers, 39 RBI and 35 runs scored across 275 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Multi-hit effort in victory

Devers went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a walk and a hit-by-pitch in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Athletics.

Devers singled in the fifth inning before coming around to score. He added another single in the sixth, marking his first multi-hit performance since June 26. The 28-year-old has now tallied at least one hit in six consecutive games, slashing .333/.444/.476 with four RBI, three runs scored, three doubles and a 4:6 BB:K across 27 plate appearances during that span.

  • Austin Hays LF | CHW

Reds' Austin Hays: Provides lone offense

Hays went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Philadelphia.

Only Hays could solve Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler, who allowed just the one hit and did not walk a batter. Hays is batting .206 (7-for-34) over nine games since coming off the injured list June 27, but it's been an impactful .206 with three doubles, one triple, two home runs and six RBI.

  • Diamondbacks' Randal Grichuk: Plays against righty

Grichuk started at designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a double in Sunday's 4-0 loss to Kansas City.

Grichuk typically starts against left-handers but was used against a righty (Michael Lorenzen) in the series finale between the two teams. Arizona's usual DH against righties, Pavin Smith, was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury. Grichuk could get additional opportunities while Smith is unavailable, but manager Torey Lovullo likes to exploit lefty-righty matchups whenever possible. That means one of the three lefty-hitting outfielders could see time at DH against righties.
