Phillies' Bryce Harper: Remains out of the lineup

Harper is not in Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

Harper was placed on the paternity list Friday and can return either Sunday or Monday. In his absence, Adam Haseley is starting in right field with Brad Miller getting the call at third base.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

    Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Sitting again

Carpenter is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rockies.

Carpenter is not in the lineup for the third consecutive game, with Tommy Edman taking his place at third base. Carpenter is in the midst of a prolonged slump, going just 4-for-29 with one home run and 12 strikeouts in his last 12 appearances.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Turns in big night at dish

Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored Friday night against the Phillies.

Ramirez knocked home a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning on a single to left field, playing a key part in Miami's comeback win. After going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts over his last two games, he responded with a multi-hit performance. The 24-year-old has put together a .274/.311/.401 slash line over 86 matchups in 2019.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Cardinals' Marcell Ozuna: Slugs 24th homer

Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an RBI double, another run scored and a walk in Friday's 8-3 win over the Rockies.

Ozuna got the Cardinals on the board with a homer off Peter Lambert in the first inning. He also hit an RBI double to deep left center in the sixth, then scored again on a single by Paul DeJong. The 28-year-old outfielder has been enjoying a successful campaign when healthy, slashing .265/.343/.520 with 24 home runs, 19 doubles and a team-leading 72 RBI.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Not starting Friday

Pederson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, according to Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA.

Pederson has accumulated just 39 at-bats against lefties all season, so it's hardly a surprise he will be held out Friday with southpaw James Paxton getting the start for the opponent. Cody Bellinger will take over in right field, the position Pederson has held down regularly of late.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Cardinals' Marcell Ozuna: Laces 23rd homer

Ozuna went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two runs overall in a win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Ozuna erased an early 2-0 deficit with a 406-foot shot to left that plated Paul Goldschmidt in the fourth inning. The veteran outfielder hadn't left the yard since Aug. 9, a span of 11 games. Ozuna has now hit safely in six of the last seven contests, and he's carrying an impressive .375 on-base percentage across the 72 plate appearances he's logged since returning from a stay on the injured list prompted by multiple finger fractures.

  • Bryce Harper 1B | PHI

Phillies' Bryce Harper: Lands on paternity list

Harper was placed on the paternity list Friday.

He must miss Friday's game and can miss no more than three games, so Harper should return between Saturday and Monday. Maikel Franco was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Out of Friday's lineup

Carpenter is not in Friday's lineup against the Rockies.

He sits for the third time in the last four games amid a stretch where he is 4-for-29 with one home run and 12 strikeouts over his last 12 games. Tommy Edman starts at third base and will hit seventh.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Heads to IL

Winker was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to a cervical strain, retroactive to Monday.

Winker has been out of the starting lineup since Aug. 15, so the Reds have elected to place him on the injured list. It's unclear if he'll be able to return after the 10-day minimum, but he'll be eligible to be activated beginning Aug. 29.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Sitting Thursday amid slump

Carpenter is not in Thursday's lineup against the Rockies.

He is 4-for-27 (.148) with one home run, five walks and 11 strikeouts over his last 10 games. Tommy Edman gets the start at third base in his stead.
