  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Drives home two runs

Carpenter went 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and two walks in a 8-2 win over the Brewers on Sunday.

Carpenter is up to 33 RBI and 39 runs scored with 13 long balls this season. He's slashing a pedestrian .237/.347/.467, but it's drastically improved since ending April with a .155/.305/.274 line. As long as he can get on base regularly, he should continue scoring runs near the top of the St. Louis lineup.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Cardinals' Marcell Ozuna: Reaches base three times in win

Ozuna went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Ozuna and Yadier Molina essentially served as the Cardinals offense on a day when only one other Cardinal, Yairo Munoz, managed so much as a single. The productive afternoon was simply an extension of what has been a stellar month of June for Ozuna, one that's seen him slash .329/.376/.620 with 26 hits overall, including seven home runs.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Dodgers' Justin Turner: Gets rest Sunday

Turner is not starting Sunday against the Mets, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Turner has struggled since returning from a fractured wrist in mid-May, hitting .236/.322/.349 on the season, with just two home runs in 30 games. He certainly wouldn't be the first player to feel the lingering effects of a wrist injury even after returning to the field. Max Muncy will start at third base Sunday.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Sits against lefty

Winker will take a seat against southpaw Mike Montgomery and the Cubs on Sunday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic Cincinnati reports.

Winker is hitting a respectable .260/.375/.365 with four homers in 66 games, making him a fairly valuable hitter in OBP leagues and an unremarkable one everywhere else. Adam Duvall will get the start in left field Sunday, with Scott Schebler returning from the bereavement list to play right field.

  • Brad Miller DH | SD

Brewers' Brad Miller: Called up by Brewers

Miller was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday.

Miller will immediately step in and provide a boost to the Brewers' middle infield, as he's set to start at second base and bat sixth in the order for Saturday's game against St. Louis. Look for him to see a decent amount of time in the lineup all around the infield, especially with Orlando Arcia continuing to struggle at the plate.

  • Giants' Andrew McCutchen: Swipes sixth base Friday

McCutchen went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Padres.

McCutchen was able to successfully nab his sixth stolen base of the season after getting thrown out on his previous two steal attempts. The 31-year-old has been heating up along with the weather, slashing .301/.326/.566 with five homers, 14 RBI and two steals over 21 games in June.

  • Brandon Belt DH | TOR

Giants' Brandon Belt: Not in Friday's lineup

Belt is out of the lineup against San Diego on Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Belt will retreat to the bench following six straight starts. In his place, Buster Posey will man first base while Nick Hundley gets the start behind the plate.

  • Jesse Winker DH | NYM

Reds' Jesse Winker: Crushes grand slam Thursday

Winker went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and a walk in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.

The 24-year-old rookie has three home runs in June after hitting just one through the end of May. Winker is slashing .256/.367/.365 in 203 at-bats this season with 34 walks and 34 strikeouts. That type of plate discipline for a young hitter is a terrific trait to have.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Hits 13th home run

Carpenter went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday against the Brewers.

Carpenter took the first offering of the game from left-hander Brent Suter out of the park to straightaway center field for his 13th home run of the season. He entered the game slugging just .383 with three home runs in 47 at-bats against southpaws this season, though he has seen the ball well of late with five home runs in his past seven games. After a concerning April, Carpenter has hit 10 home runs between May and June.

  • Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Scores twice, steals base Thursday

Blackmon went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base in a 6-4 win over the Mets on Thursday.

It was Blackmon's fifth stolen base this season and first since all the way back on May 14. He's also hit just three home runs during that same span. His slash line of .281/.363/.488 is strong, but a bit disappointing for someone of his caliber. He's hasn't taken full advantage of Coors Field -- Blackmon has hit just three of his 14 home runs in his home park.
