J.D. Martinez DH | NYM
Diamondbacks' J.D. Martinez: Homers in losing effort
Martinez went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's 10-6 loss to the Padres.
The long ball Friday aside, Martinez has been relatively quiet in the Diamondbacks' three games since his four-homer performance Sept. 4. During that span, he's gone just 2-for-14 with seven strikeouts. Martinez should remain an excellent source of power production throughout the season's final month, but he may be more of a liability in the batting-average category.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Dodgers' Justin Turner: Homers in loss
Turner went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.
The Dodgers have fallen into a late-season skid, but no one is pointing fingers at Turner and his .324/.390/.622 slash line over his last 10 contests. The 32-year-old has been one of the most consistent third base options this season with a .328 batting average, 19 homers, 64 RBI and 65 runs in 113 games.

Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Back in action Friday
Carpenter (shoulder) is in the lineup Friday against the Pirates.
Carpenter was removed from Monday's game due to tendinitis and has been withheld from the lineup each day since. However, he's ready to return to the field Friday, as he's starting at third base and hitting leadoff.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Out of lineup Friday
McCutchen is out of the lineup Friday against the Cardinals.
McCutchen has started 12 consecutive games, but will receive the night off Friday. Over said games he hit .208/.255/.229 and collected just one extra-base hit. Starling Marte will move over to center field Friday while Jordan Luplow heads out to left.

Giancarlo Stanton DH | NYY
Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton: Out of Friday's lineup
Stanton is out of the lineup Friday against the Braves, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Stanton was playing on another level during the month of August. Over 29 games he hit .349/.433/.899 and slugged 18 home runs. He's had a slow start to September, as he's gone just 3-for-24 (.125) across seven games, although two of his three hits have been home runs. Ichiro Suzuki will start in right field while Stanton sits out Friday.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Dodgers' Justin Turner: Gets breather Thursday
Turner is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Turner will get the day off after appearing in 14 straight games, going 12-for-46 (.261) with a homer and five RBI over that span. Logan Forsythe will slide over to third base in his stead, opening up a spot for Chase Utley to start at the keystone.

Matt Carpenter DH | STL
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Held out Thursday
Carpenter (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.
Carpenter will remain sidelined for a third straight contest as he continues to nurse a shoulder injury. The good news is an MRI revealed no significant damage, so he shouldn't be sidelined too much longer. In the meantime, Jose Martinez will draw another start at first base in his absence.

Charlie Blackmon RF | COL
Rockies' Charlie Blackmon: Slugs 34th homer Wednesday
Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 11-3 loss to the Giants.
It's his third homer and fourth multi-hit performance in the last week, and Blackmon has already established new career highs in every major offensive category except steals with 23 games left on the Rockies' schedule. The 31-year-old will be hard to ignore in the first round of fantasy drafts in 2018.

Andrew McCutchen DH | TEX
Pirates' Andrew McCutchen: Finding his groove?
McCutchen went 2-for-4 with his 11th stolen base of the season Wednesday.
After slashing .171/.244/.207 in his prior 90 plate appearances, the outfielder has four hits in nine at-bats. McCutchen boasts a 1.111 OPS in 110 at-bats against southpaws in 2017 and will face lefty Jose Quintana on Wednesday.

Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT
Marlins' Marcell Ozuna: Three hits in Tuesday's loss
Ozuna went 3-for-4 and scored the Marlins' only run in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Nationals.
It's been feast or famine for Ozuna lately, as he has four multi-hit performances and six oh-fers in his last 10 games. A 4:14 BB:K is the main culprit, and while his .275/.341/.375 slash line over that stretch doesn't make him a big liability in season-long formats, he's become a very risky DFS play due to that game-to-game volatility.
