Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera clubbed his eighth home run Tuesday.

In the third inning, Cabrera stepped to the plate against Sonny Gray. On a 91 mph cutter, Cabrera belted a home run out to left. Cabrera also singled during his first at-bat, going 2 for 4, with two runs and two RBI.

Cabrera is hitting .324/.369/.548 in 188 at-bats.

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg hinted Tuesday he could move to a Ryan Howard and Darin Ruf platoon at first base, per the Philadelphia Daily News. 

"If it works. If it produces, then it becomes a possibility going forward," Sandberg said.

Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was one of five Oakland players to hit a home run in his team's 10-0 win over the Tigers Monday.

Cespedes went 1 for 5 in the game and delivered the fourth solo home run of the contest in the third inning. After hitting two home runs in his last three games, the Oakland outfielder has hit .247/.310/.500 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 178 at-bats.

Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton homered and recorded his fourth three-hit on Monday, leading his team to a 3-2 win over the Nationals in Washington.

Stanton took starter Tanner Roark deep for a two-run home run in the third inning. He doubled in the first and singled in the eighth, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He finished 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI. He is hitting .316 and leads the National League in home runs (15) and leads the majors in RBI (49).

Nationals manager Matt Williams provided an update Monday on the status of outfielder Bryce Harper, who continues to recover from left thumb surgery.

"Bryce is just healing up," Williams said, per MASNsports.com. "He is able to do some things with the thumb. He is seeing the (occupational therapist), doing that. It is still early yet, though. He is still in the process of mild stretching, strengthening and letting that matte down and heal up before he can get aggressive with it. But he is progressing."

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera, who left Sunday's game with a hamstring cramp, was in Monday's lineup against the Athletics. He's hitting .322 with seven homers and 42 RBI.

Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna went 2 for 3 with a walk and a solo home run to represent his team's entire offense in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers.

Ozuna's bat has been hot as of late, as he has three home runs and three two-hit performances over the last five days. He has hit .261/.307/.443 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 176 at-bats.

Dodgers infielder Justin Turner went 2 for 4 with a solo home run in his team's 6-0 win over the Phillies Sunday.

Turner's second-inning home run increased his team's lead to 2-0, but one run would prove to be sufficient as starter Josh Beckett no-hit the Phillies Sunday. Turner has hit .239/.289/.364 with two home runs and eight RBI in 88 at-bats.

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Sunday's game against the Rangers with a right hamstring cramp. He is considered day to day.

Cabrera went 1 for 3 with one walk before leaving the game. Cabrera entered Sunday batting .373 with a .675 slugging percentage and 1.090 OPS in 22 May games.

Athletics designated hitter Yoenis Cespedes certainly can't be blamed for his team's dismal offensive performance Saturday in Toronto.

Cespedes opened the scoring in the second inning against knuckleballer R.A. Dickey with his eighth home run and added a single and triple to raise his average to .254. His big game halted a 1-for-16 slide.
