  • Spencer Howard SP | CLE

Yankees' Spencer Howard: Dealt to Yankees for cash

Howard was traded from the Rangers to the Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for cash, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

It has been quite a fall from grace for Howard over the past few years, as he was once seen as one of the better pitching prospects in the game as part of the Phillies' farm system, but he is now on his third team. The 27-year-old righty has a 7.20 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 115 career innings in the majors and had been working as a low-leverage reliever for the Rangers.

  • Kirby Snead RP | SEA

Athletics' Kirby Snead: Recalled from Las Vegas

The Athletics recalled Snead from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Snead has yet to pitch in the majors this season and holds a 7.20 ERA and 2.07 WHIP through 15 innings in Triple-A. However, he's surrendered just two runs while collecting 12 strikeouts across his last nine appearances, so the A's will hope to capitalize on Snead's momentum out of the bullpen.

  • Trent Thornton RP | CHC

Mariners' Trent Thornton: Recalled from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Thornton from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday

Thornton was acquired by the Mariners from Toronto on Wednesday and will now make his way to the big-league club after throwing one scoreless inning in Tacoma. Thornton has allowed one run over 5.1 frames in the majors this season and figures to serve in middle relief while in Seattle.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Angels' Dominic Leone: Acquired by Angels

The Mets traded Leone to the Angels on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Jeremiah Jackson, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Leone's overall numbers don't look great, but he's pitched to a 1.80 ERA over his last 12 appearances dating back to late June. The 31-year-old right-hander will likely slide into a middle-relief role with the playoff-hopeful Halos.

  • Angel Zerpa RP | MIL

Royals' Angel Zerpa: Up with big club

Zerpa was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Zerpa was sent to Omaha after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list in mid-July, and he'll now join the big-league club. The 23-year-old has a 4.73 ERA across 26.2 innings as a starter at Triple-A but may work out of the bullpen for the Royals.

  • Luis Patino RP | SD

White Sox's Luis Patino: Dealt to Chicago

Patino was traded from the Rays to the White Sox on Tuesday in exchange for cash, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Patino was once a highly-prized pitching prospect, but he didn't emerge as an effective starter or reliever at the highest level. The 23-year-old righty has a career 5.23 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 118.2 MLB innings. Patino has a 6.75 ERA this season at Triple-A while working mostly as a reliever, but since few teams have more rotation spots up for grabs in the short term and long term than the White Sox, he could continue his development as a starter in his new organization. The fact that the Rays were willing to give up Patino for cash doesn't inspire much confidence in his outlook moving forward, however. He'll report to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his tenure in the White Sox organization, per Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

  • Trey Wingenter RP | CHC

Tigers' Trey Wingenter: Returns to Detroit

The Tigers recalled Wingenter from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Wingenter will make the trip from Toledo to Detroit for the second time in the past five days, as he was promoted for the Tigers' doubleheader Thursday and sent back down to Triple-A on Saturday. Wingenter holds a 7.11 ERA through 6.1 innings with Detroit, though he allowed one run over two frames in his most-recent showing.

  • Victor Mederos RP | ATL

Angels' Victor Mederos: Back in majors

The Angels recalled Mederos from Triple-A Rocket City on Tuesday.

With Griffin Canning (calf) headed for the injured list, Mederos will come up from Double-A to add depth to Los Angeles' pitching staff. Mederos has been used primarily as a starter in Double-A this season, but he'll likely come out of the Angels' bullpen as he did during his last stint in the majors.

  • Zach Jackson RP | ATH

Athletics' Zach Jackson: Out indefinitely after appendectomy

Jackson (elbow) underwent an appendectomy Monday and is without a timeline to resume his rehab program, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Jackson has made two minor-league appearances in the past week as he works on returning from a strained elbow, but his recovery from the appendectomy will put a pause on his rehab indefinitely. He struck out four and allowed two earned runs in two innings across the two rehab appearances. The right-hander has been on the injured list since mid-May.

  • Logan Rinehart RP | BAL

Orioles' Logan Rinehart: Traded to Baltimore

Rinehart was traded from the Mariners to the Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for Eduard Bazardo, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Bazardo was designated for assignment Sunday, so this is a pretty minor transaction. Rinehart logged an impressive 2.84 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 25.7 K-BB% and 51.2 percent groundball rate while saving 10 games at High-A, but given that he turns 26 in September and has never pitched above that level, it's hard to put much stock in those strong numbers.
