  • Bryan Baker RP | TB

Orioles' Bryan Baker: Takes loss in 10th inning

Baker (3-2) allowed an unearned run and walked one over two-thirds of an inning, taking the extra-inning loss versus the Yankees on Tuesday.

A groundout, an intentional walk and a sacrifice fly combined to produce the winning run for the Yankees in the 10th inning. Baker's two losses this year have come in his last three outings, and he's been scored on in each of those appearances. Despite the recent shaky pitching, he has a 2.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB through 22.2 innings this season. He's added nine holds and a blown save while working in a setup role.

  • Royals' Aroldis Chapman: Earns second save

Chapman picked up the save Tuesday against Detroit. He allowed one walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

After blowing each of his last two save opportunities, Chapman bounced back with a hitless ninth to secure his second save of the season. Chapman has allowed just one hit and no runs in his last five appearances (five innings) while striking out 10 batters and was given the save chance Tuesday with Scott Barlow getting the night off after tossing 1.2 innings Monday. Though Chapman has yet to allow a home run through 18.2 innings, he has a tendency to get himself into trouble by handing out walks (5.8 BB/9).

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Athletics' Trevor May: Returns with scoreless inning

May hit two batters in a scoreless inning in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

May spent over a month on the injured list due to anxiety-related issues. He was a little shaky in his return to the big-leagues, throwing just eight of 15 pitches for strikes, but he was able to keep the game within a run. The right-hander figures to be in the mix for saves eventually, though he may need a couple more lower-leverage assignments to get back up to speed. He has a 10.29 ERA, 2.71 WHIP and 6:9 K:BB across seven innings this season.

  • Mike Mayers RP | TOR

Royals' Mike Mayers: Dazzles in first start of 2023

Mayers did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over 4.2 innings against the Tigers. He struck out eight.

Though Mayers was initially brought up to serve in the bullpen as a bulk reliever, he ended up being called on to make his first start of the season and rewarded fantasy managers who took a risk on the veteran after his Triple-A struggles (6.88 ERA across eight starts) and poor first showing. With Daniel Lynch (shoulder) approaching a return, it's unclear if Mayers will stick around for another turn in the rotation. If he does, managers should still treat him as a risky streaming option considering all signs point toward Tuesday's performance being an outlier.

  • Paul Sewald RP | ARI

Mariners' Paul Sewald: Collects 10th save

Sewald struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Sewald hadn't seen a save chance since May 4, and he came into this outing with three runs allowed over his last 3.2 innings. That lack of closing opportunities has led to a light workload for the closer this month. He's converted 10 saves this season while pitching to a 3.32 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 28:5 K:BB over 21.2 innings.

  • Felix Bautista RP | BAL

Orioles' Felix Bautista: Surrenders game-tying homer

Bautista blew the save in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Yankees. He allowed a solo home run while striking out three over one inning.

Bautista got off to a strong start to the ninth, striking out Gleyber Torres and going up 0-2 on Aaron Judge, but he was bested by the reigning AL MVP, who swatted a solo home run to tie the game up at 5-5. The long ball was the first one Bautista has allowed since April 1 and broke a streak of six consecutive scoreless appearances (7.1 innings). Despite the blown save, Bautista remains a strong closing option, considering he owns a 1.50 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 18.0 K/9 through 24 innings.

  • White Sox's Kendall Graveman: Notches fourth save

Graveman picked up the save Tuesday against the Guardians, working around a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning.

Graveman has thrown nine straight scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and four walks in that span. His ERA is down to 3.10 with a 1.03 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB through 20.1 innings this season. Graveman has taken over the closing job in Chicago, going 4-for-4 in save chances, though he'll likely fall back into a setup role with Liam Hendriks (illness) returning as soon as this weekend.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Twins' Caleb Thielbar: Throws bullpen session

Thielbar (oblique) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 36-year-old southpaw reportedly reached the mid-80s and was satisfied with his intensity. Thielbar will throw another bullpen session within the next few days, at which point the Twins will determine his next steps. Thielbar has been on the injured list since May 5 with a right oblique strain.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Athletics' Trevor May: Activated from injured list

Oakland activated May (personal) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

May is ready to give it a go again after missing several weeks because of anxiety-related issues. If those are behind him, the 33-year-old reliever would have a clear path toward claiming a high-leverage role in the Oakland bullpen. But, he is probably more of a wait-and-see type in fantasy, all things considered.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Blue Jays' Mitch White: Shifted to 60-day IL

The Blue Jays transferred White (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

White has been on the injured list since before Opening Day and was pulled off his rehab assignment Thursday due to shoulder fatigue. He resumed throwing Sunday, but White is likely still a couple weeks away from his season debut. His transfer clears a spot for Ernie Clement to join Toronto's 40-man and big-league rosters.
