Padilla was claimed off waivers by the White Sox on Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Padilla managed to work his way through the Cubs' farm system and crack the big leagues in 2022, but he was placed on waivers when they needed to open a roster spot. Padilla has one major-league appearance -- he pitched 1.2 innings in relief and gave up one earned run. The White Sox will stash him in Triple-A for now, where he holds a 1.23 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 14.2 innings.

Logue was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Logue has split his time between MLB and Triple-A ball this season with limited success coming at both levels. He will leave the Athletics' bullpen -- where he has a 6.79 ERA -- and perhaps finish the season in Las Vegas, where he has a 6.29 ERA. Domingo Tapia was recalled Friday in a corresponding move.

Pruitt will start Friday's game against the White Sox, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Pruitt has been back in the majors for just under two weeks, and he'll make his first big-league start of the season Friday after James Kaprielian (finger) was a late scratch. Pruitt doesn't tend to pitch many innings out of the bullpen, so it's possible that he's utilized as an opener during Friday's matchup.

Tapia was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

The 31-year-old righty has made nine appearances for the Athletics this season out of the bullpen and possesses a 7.80 ERA and 2.20 WHIP over 15 innings of work. He's had much more success in Triple-A Las Vegas, where his numbers drop down to a much better 1.95 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 27.2 innings. Zach Logue was optioned to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Effross (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session either Friday or Saturday, Max Goodman of SI.com reports.

Effross went on the 15-day injured list Aug. 22 with a shoulder strain and hasn't thrown from a mound since. He appears to be progressing well, however, with Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicating that the righty reliever is "getting close." Effross has pitched well since joining New York at the trade deadline, allowing zero earned runs in seven of eight appearances and recording two holds along with one save.

Pressly (neck) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Pressly was still bothered by his neck issue, but the right-hander will ultimately be cleared to return ahead of Friday's series opener against the Angels. Pressly didn't require a rehab assignment prior to his activation, and he should reclaim his role as the Astros' primary closer while Rafael Montero shifts into a setup role.

Chapman (leg) is set to throw a bullpen session Friday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Chapman has been out of action since Aug. 27 when his leg became infected after getting a tattoo. He's yet to face any major setbacks in his rehab process and could very well come off the injured list within a few days.

Fulmer recorded the save Thursday against the Yankees, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning in a 4-3 win.

Fulmer entered the game in the ninth inning with one out and a runner on first. He allowed a double and an intentional walk to load the bases before retiring the final two batters without allowing a run to score. It was his third save of the season and first for Minnesota. Since being acquired by the Twins before the trade deadline, he's compiled a 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB in 16 innings across 18 appearances. Jorge Lopez was used earlier in the game in a high-leverage situation, and Fulmer will likely return to his setup role for future outings.

Quijada (0-4) took the loss and blew a save against the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over two-thirds of an inning.

Jimmy Herget has been the Angels' primary closer of late, but manager Phil Nevin chose to use Herget in the eighth inning with his team up by one run Wednesday. That led to the decision to deploy Quijada in a save situation in the ninth, which backfired when the first two batters he faced belted the ball out of the park. Quijada looked to be a candidate to close regularly after Raisel Iglesias was traded to Atlanta, but the lefty hasn't notched a save since Aug. 14 and did not earn much trust with his blown save against the Tigers.

Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Trivino is dealing with back spasms, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Trivino said that he deals with a similar back issue approximately once a year and usually requires a few days of rest before the pain subsides. The right-hander should be considered day-to-day heading into the Yankees' weekend series against the Rays.
