Romano struck out the side and earned a save over the Angels on Friday.

Romano was his usual dominant self Friday, fanning all three batters he faced on just 12 pitches. He's now converted 15 of 17 save chances on the year with a 24:5 K:BB through 18.2 innings. The 29-year-old has given up one unearned run over his last five appearances while lowering his season ERA to 2.41.

Santana struck out one batter in a perfect inning and notched a save over Oakland on Friday.

Santana was given his first save opportunity of the year Friday and finished off the 8-5 with no issue, tossing 10 of 11 pitches for strikes. Primary closer Joe Barlow had thrown 24 pitches over the last two games, which could be the reason Santana was handed this save chance. He lowered his season ERA to 1.93 with one save and six holds through 14 innings. Santana has gone five straight appearances without allowing an earned run.

Giles (finger) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Giles' 2022 debut has been delayed by an injury to the tendon in his right middle finger, but he's closing in on his return from the injured list. The 31-year-old hasn't seen MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in September of 2020, so his rehab stint in the minors is likely to last a few weeks.

Green (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The Yankees announced last weekend that Green will require Tommy John surgery, so his move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. The right-hander had posted a 3.00 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 15 innings over 14 relief appearances prior to his injury, but he'll miss the remainder of 2022 and likely the majority of the 2023 season.

Coulombe (hip) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Coulombe had been on the injured list since May 11, but he recently made a pair of rehab appearances at Triple-A St. Paul and allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in two innings. The southpaw has posted a 0.75 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 12 innings over nine relief appearances for the Twins this season and will rejoin the major-league bullpen after a relatively minimal absence.

Trivino (1-3) took the loss in a defeat at the hands of the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two earned runs on two hits over one-third of an inning. He struck out one.

Trivino saw a recent strong stretch of pitching end with Thursday's stumble, one that saw him give up a run-scoring double to Adolis Garcia that snapped a 1-1 tie. Nathaniel Lowe subsequently drove in Garcia with a two-run home run off Sam Moll, tacking another run onto Trivino's ledger following his exit. The right-hander's rocky outing pushed his ERA back up to 7.94 after Trivino had lowered it by nearly six runs to 6.55 over the course of his previous 11 appearances.

Yarbrough (0-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk while striking out five across 5.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Yankees.

Yarbrough held the Yankees scoreless through five innings but struggled in his final frame. He allowed three of the first four hitters he faced to reach base and exited with runners on first and third, and both of them came around to score. It was the longest start of Yarbrough's season and his fourth consecutive outing having allowed two or fewer earned runs. The southpaw has maintained a 3.98 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB across 20.1 frames on the season.

Staumont (2-1) pitched a perfect inning and struck out two to earn the win Thursday versus the Twins.

Staumont retired the side on 13 pitches (nine strikes) in the seventh inning, and the Royals rallied for the lead in the eighth. This was a solid bounce-back outing for Staumont, who took his first loss of the year in his last appearance May 22, which also came against the Twins. The right-hander now has a 4.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB with three saves, three blown saves and two holds in 17.2 innings. While Staumont pitched well, Scott Barlow was able to add a two-inning save Thursday -- both relievers are expected to continue sharing closing duties on a matchup basis as they have for much of the season.

Stephan (2-2) took the loss Thursday versus the Tigers. He allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in one-third of an inning.

Stephan entered with the game tied at 3-3, but he allowed a double to Jonathan Schoop, who then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Miguel Cabrera added a walkoff single, handing Stephan his second loss in his last three outings. The right-hander now owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB across 18 innings in 18 appearances. He's given up five runs (four earned) in his last four outings.

Smeltzer did not factor in the decision against Kansas City on Thursday despite pitching seven scoreless innings during which he allowed two hits and one walk while striking out six.

Smeltzer was dominant and efficient in his seven frames, throwing just 80 pitches and preventing any runners from reach second base. He was in line for the win upon his departure but had to settle for a no-decision after Tyler Duffey surrendered three eighth-inning runs to take the loss. This was Smeltzer's third start of the campaign, and he has allowed a combined two runs over 17.1 innings for a sparkling 1.04 ERA. He's currently up in place of Joe Ryan (COVID-19), but it wouldn't be surprising if Minnesota finds a way to keep him in the rotation based on how well he's pitched so far.
