Matt Canterino SP | MIN
Twins' Matt Canterino: Rounding into form at Double-A
Canterino has a 2.79 ERA with 14 strikeouts and eight walks over 9.2 innings in his first four starts at Double-A Wichita.
Canterino has given up too many walks early in the season, but the more important thing is that he looks healthy after a right elbow strain ended his 2021 season in mid-August. He pitched just three innings in his last start as the team manages his workload on his way back from injury.

Matt Foster RP | CHW
White Sox's Matt Foster: Back with team
Foster returned from the bereavement list Tuesday.
Foster had been away from the team since Friday. He'll return to his role in the bullpen, where he's given up one run on three hits in 6.1 innings so far this season.

Adam Cimber RP | LAA
Blue Jays' Adam Cimber: Backs into win No. 4
Cimber (4-0) picked up the win but blew the save in Monday's victory over the Red Sox, giving up one hit without allowing a run in the eighth inning.
While the sidearmer's own line in the box score was clean, he did allow two inherited runners to score, costing Jose Berrios the win as Cimber left the mound with the score tied 2-2. Bo Bichette's grand slam in the bottom of the frame then gave the right-hander another vultured win. Cimber's importance to the Blue Jays' bullpen is highlighted by the fact that he's recorded a win (four), save (one) or hold (three) in all eight of his appearances so far in 2022.

Andrew Chafin RP | CIN
Tigers' Andrew Chafin: Activated from IL
Chafin was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
The lefty reliever signed with the Tigers this offseason, but he suffered a groin injury during spring training, which has delayed his 2022 debut. Chafin is now ready to go and will look to build off of his career year from 2021, where he produced a 1.83 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 68.2 innings with the Cubs and Athletics. He'll likely operate as a set-up man to Gregory Soto, pitching in high-leverage situations this season.

Matt Strahm RP | KC
Red Sox's Matt Strahm: Absorbs loss
Strahm (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits over one-third of an inning and was tagged with Monday's loss against Toronto.
In a slightly surprising move, acting manager Will Venable had Strahm enter the eighth inning after starter Nathan Eovaldi cruised through seven innings on just 72 pitches. The lefty reliever got the first out before giving up a single and bunt that was ruled a single after first baseman Bobby Dalbec couldn't squeeze the ball in his glove. Two batters later, Bo Bichette delivered a game-clinching grand slam off Tyler Danish.

Raisel Iglesias RP | ATL
Angels' Raisel Iglesias: Cruises to third save
Iglesias earned a save against the Guardians on Monday, pitching a perfect inning during which he struck out one batter.
Iglesias had a three-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth inning, and he set Cleveland down without issue, needing just seven pitches to retire three batters. The veteran closer has been nearly lights-out across seven appearances this season, allowing only one run on two hits while registering an 8:0 K:BB across seven innings.

Nate Pearson RP | KC
Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Building up for bulk role
Pearson (illness) is preparing for a "bulky role" according to general manager Ross Atkins, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Pearson is still building up to speed after missing the start of the season due to mononucleosis. He's scheduled for his second live batting practice session later this week. While he's seemingly still viewed as a starter long-term and could head to Triple-A Buffalo once healthy, the Blue Jays seem to view his best path to immediate major-league usefulness as coming in a multi-inning relief role.

Ryan Borucki RP | SF
Blue Jays' Ryan Borucki: Battling blister
Borucki was unavailable Sunday while dealing with a blister but is expected to be available Monday against the Red Sox, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
Borucki presumably picked up the injury Saturday against the Astros, when he retired the lone batter he faced in his season debut. It's been a rough go early on for the 28-year-old, as he missed the start of the season with a hamstring strain and now has the blister.

Nate Pearson RP | KC
Blue Jays' Nate Pearson: Slated for another live BP
Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Pearson (illness) is slated to throw his second live batting practice session either Friday or Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
After opening the season on the 10-day injured list following his diagnosis of mononucleosis, Pearson has shaken off the illness but is still in the process of regaining strength and conditioning. He took a significant step forward by facing hitters last Saturday, but the Blue Jays want Pearson to complete another live session this weekend before mapping out a minor-league rehab assignment for him. Toronto still plans on developing Pearson as a starter, and with a rotation spot with the big club unlikely to be open for him once he's fully ramped up, the 25-year-old seems likely to report to Triple-A Buffalo upon being activated from the IL.
