Ottavino earned a save after allowing a hit in a scoreless 10th inning in Friday's win over Oakland.

After Matt Barnes blew a save chance in the ninth inning, Ottavino converted his sixth save of the year in the 10th. He gave up a single to Jed Lowrie before escaping the jam. The 35-year-old has converted six of his nine save opportunities this season and lowered his season ERA to 2.65.

Barnes (4-2) gave up a run and struck out two batters in one inning Friday, earning a win after blowing the save against Oakland.

Barnes coughed up a leadoff, game-tying homer to Elvis Andrus in the ninth inning. It was just the second long ball he's given up in his last 17 appearances. He had converted his previous four save chances and hadn't been charged with an earned run since June 15. His ERA bumped up to 2.75 with a 61:9 K:BB through 36 innings this season. Barnes has 18 saves in 22 opportunities.

Jax will start Saturday's game against the Royals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Jax earned his first win in his last appearance, and he'll make his first career start in Saturday's contest. The right-hander has lasted at least 3.1 innings in each of his last three outings, so he could be able to handle a fairly significant workload against Kansas City if he can pitch effectively. Jax has posted a 7.82 ERA in 12.2 innings across his first four major-league appearances in 2021.

Patino was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Patino started Friday's game against the Blue Jays and allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out five in 5.1 innings to take the loss. He now carries a 1-2 record in the majors this year and will head back to the Triple-A club following his lackluster start. It's not yet clear whether he could be called back up to make another start prior to the All-Star break.

Manager Brandon Hyde said Friday that Lakins is dealing with a significant elbow injury, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Lakins exited Tuesday's game against the Astros with right elbow discomfort and was placed on the injured list a day later. While the exact nature of his injury isn't yet clear, he appears to be in line for an extended absence following Hyde's update. The Orioles haven't yet announced who could take Lakins' spot in the rotation going forward.

Harvey (lat) is expected to miss about a month, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Harvey was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right lat strain Friday, and the injury could keep him sidelined until early August. The right-hander missed the first two months of the season with a left oblique strain and posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with two holds in 8.2 innings prior to his most recent injury.

Lowther was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The lefty has posted a 15.19 ERA in 5.1 innings with the Orioles this season, with all nine runs coming in his last two appearances. He hasn't been remarkable at Triple-A either, where he has a 5.18 ERA and yielded five runs in a four-inning start June 24. Even so, Lowther will be called upon for added bullpen depth while Hunter Harvey (lat) spends time on the injured list.

Harvey was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right lat strain Friday.

Harvey felt shoulder discomfort in the bullpen Wednesday, and he'll spend time back on the injured list after he was diagnosed with a right lat strain. It's not yet clear when the right-hander could rejoin the active roster, but he won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break. Left-hander Zac Lowther was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.

Moll was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Athletics on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

Moll's only major-league appearances came with the Athletics in 2017, and he'll return to the organization after he spent the start of the 2021 campaign with Triple-A Reno. The southpaw has made 21 relief appearances in the minors to begin the year, and he's recorded a 5.82 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 21.2 innings. He's been assigned to Triple-A Las Vegas, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Fulmer (spine) on Friday visited the same orthopedic surgeon who performed his Tommy John surgery in 2019, Jason Beck of MLB.comreports.

Fulmer was placed on the injured list last weekend with a cervical spine strain, and while it's not immediately clear that he needs a procedure done, it's a bit ominous that he's meeting with an orthopedic surgeon. Manager A.J. Hinch said he just wants players to be "comfortable" when it comes to medical issues, but it's still worth monitoring whether Fulmer's issue might be something more serious. For now, he's eligible to come off the injured list Wednesday.
